NC Salary Grade NC09 $38,516-$67,404
This is an Engineering Technician II position located in the Whittier Construction Office. This position will serve as a Project Inspector on roadway and structure projects. Project Inspectors are required to review NPDES paperwork and complete assorted documentation such as daily diaries, sample cards, asphalt reports, concrete reports, pay record books, materials received forms and monthly estimates. Project Inspectors also monitor and inspect erosion control and traffic control devices, test concrete, perform densities (conventional & nuclear), take materials samples and inspect asphalt. Project Inspectors take field measurements and perform a wide range of calculations and computations to determine contract pay quantities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Experience in performing inspection, sampling, and testing of materials (concrete, asphalt density) to ensure compliance with NCDOT specifications.
Demonstrated ability supervising the work of others in order to obtain desired results.
Working knowledge of pay record book entries and material received reports.
Skill in evaluating and applying engineering judgment to construction plans, contract provisions, and inspection procedures.
Experience in maintaining neat, legible, and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
