About the Job:
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the administration of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitative, or diagnostic regimes prescribed by physicians.
PRN position (as needed) (12 hr. shifts)
Requirements:
An Associate's degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program is required. One year of acute Respiratory Therapy Services is preferred.
A credential of Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
A Respiratory Therapist License issued by the state of Mississippi.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are a requirement. (NRP and PALS within 90 days of hire.)
Experience in Ventilators, High Flow O2 and BiPAP is a must.
Cerner charting experience is a plus.
Must possess a positive attitude and good time management skills.
Duties Include:
Assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders.
Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases.
Proper assessment, observation and monitoring of signs and symptoms, general behavior, and general physical response to Respiratory Care treatments and diagnostic testing.
The Respiratory Therapist will recommend and initiate appropriate respiratory care procedures and protocols based on observed abnormalities, implement changes in treatment pursuant to the written or verbal orders of a physician.
Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care deliver to achieve desired outcomes.
The Respiratory Therapist must have the ability to assess and initiate emergency procedures.
