JOB REQUIREMENTS: Overview Cares for patients in the hospital setting under direction of nursing staff, by performing the following duties, supporting the nursing philosophy. May include weekends, holidays, day, evening, night, and/or on-call hours. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities CNA 2 (Advanced) is required to meet unit competency and orientation requirements as defined for CNA 1 (Basic) role, additionally demonstrating competency in: * Training/precepting new partners in collaboration with unit educator * Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) with lab personnel * Bladder scanning procedure reviewed * Bladder scanner training complete (check off sheet for competency) * Attaching patient to remote telemetry or bedside cardiac monitor * Managing and reporting collection devices: * Colostomy, ileostomy or other fecal management systems: care and output measures * Indwelling catheters: care and output measures * Nasogastric tubes to suction * Surgical drains under direction of supervising RN * Competent in completing vital signs: Manual process for blood pressure and required reporting of abnormal values to supervising RN * Discontinue invasive devices under the direction of the supervising RN: * Indwelling (Foley) catheters * Nasogastric tubes * Peripherally inserted intravenous catheters * Similar devices as appropriate Culture of Excellence Behavior Expectations To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following behavior expectations: Quality - Follows policies and procedures; adapts to and manages changes in the environment; Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness giving attention to details; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Manages time and prioritizes effectively to achieve organizational goals.
