Job Summary:

The in-country Prime Power Unit (PPU) Electrical Lead will act as the primary point of contact for all electrical technical needs in support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) Army Navy/Transportable Radar Surveillance Model 2 (AN/TPY-2) PPU during preproduction, production, and delivery. The AN/TPY-2 Radar PPU generates a minimum of 1 megawatt of power at 4160VAC, 60Hz within thermal and shock requirements and operating conditions by paralleling qty two (2) multi-kilowatt generator sets. The KSA AN/TPY-2 Program includes in-country fabrication of the PPU, managing the KSA supplier base to deliver qualified PPUs and spares while leveraging Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) and build to print documentation.

The PPU Electrical Lead is responsible for overseeing and providing guidance throughout the PPU production build, acceptance testing and integration with the AN/TPY-2 system. The PPU Electrical Lead will provide solicit reach back support, coordinate and support process development, aid in training material development, mitigate supplier risk and facilitate in-country DD250 efforts. The PPU Electrical Lead will provide subject matter expertise to all KSA suppliers and work with the cross functional teams to confirm build and test compliance. Additionally, the PPU Electrical Lead will ensure all work status in KSA is reported to the Program Leadership. Some overtime may be required.

This position is located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Work closely with a team of multi-discipline engineers across the in-country supplier base to resolve production and test issues related to the Prime Power Unit.

  • Provide on-site support, surveillance, and guidance to in-country suppliers (manufacturing, test, integration, cables assemblies)

  • Reach back to PPU Subject Matter Experts in the United States to support resolution of production and test issues.

  • Support supplier assessments and review Quality and Test Reports

  • Review Subcontractor Contract Deliverables for compliance.

  • Present reviews of technical data to program leadership, technical staff, and customer community. Manage related risk discussions.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major.

  • 8+ years of experience in the design and/or manufacture of medium or high voltage power generator systems, engine, and motor control systems,

  • Direct experience in production, fabrication, assembly, test, and integration support of large complex assemblies

  • Ability to synthesize and distill technical data and coherently present material in a timely manner to leadership and team.

  • Able to work on ladders, high places, and inside small spaces.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Direct experience with engines, alternators, and high power/high voltage (4160VAC)

  • Engine and Voltage regulation Control Systems and Motor controllers

  • Experience with multi-kilowatt generator parallelization, synchronization, and load sharing.

  • Experience with medium or high voltage power generator systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead/manage a team.

  • Experience generating technical documentation and reports.

  • Knowledge of test and production methods for electronics/power system components

  • Experience interfacing with procurement and manufacturing as well as external suppliers to ensure proper implementation of product designs.

  • Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs as well as Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) programs.

  • Experience working directly with the USG, foreign country customer and end users.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Project

  • Ability to speak Arabic.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
