JPMorgan Chase Legal Contract Lifecycle Management Product Owner, Vice President in Jersey City, New Jersey

We are seeking a Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) Product Manager in JPMorgan Chase's Legal department to manage CLM release execution from design to implementation. The role will support CLM Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) in addition to post-MVP expansion work. The CLM's goal is to automate and streamline contract processes across Legal, as well as in the business (when appropriate and aligned to project objectives).

This role will define project scope and timeline, engage stakeholders, gain agreement on roles and responsibilities, establish milestones, drive prioritization, scale rollout, operationalize processes, monitor progress, escalate issues, and ultimately successfully deliver CLM implementations that benefit Legal. This highly visible position will work with internal stakeholders such as Legal Practice Groups, Legal Technology, Line of Business counterparts, and other corporate functional areas, as well as external stakeholders such as technology vendors and professional service providers. Given this diverse set of stakeholders, the role will benefit from someone who enjoys and is effective in collaborating, negotiating, and influencing. The successful candidate will be a seasoned product manager familiar with Agile processes and who is able to handle a high level of complexity, be confident in their problem-solving and project management abilities, and excel in leading in a fast-paced, priority-driven, client-centric environment. This role has a high degree of technology interaction and will require the candidate to learn and become a subject matter expert in CLM suite product offerings. In addition, this role requires a self-starter, who is happy to navigate the unknown and get out of his or her comfort zone.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for facing-off with key business partners and Legal Technology in order to understand the strategy, direction, and objectives for the Legal Practice Group and business partners

  • Product Owner responsibilities such as writing new user stories, specifying acceptance criteria, groom and prioritize product backlog, release planning.

  • Facilitate continuous improvement by harvesting lessons learned and identifying reuse opportunities.

  • Responsible for end-to-end Project Delivery to implement approved CLM MVP, efficiency and governance, and optimization efforts. Ensures delivery of Product solution meets clients' requirements.

  • Testing responsibilities include coordinating UAT testing with end users and reviewing acceptance criteria with feature team.

  • Conduct periodic training sessions for users to enhance their understanding and usage of the product and to keep users updated on new functionality.

  • Adhere to governance structure, project management discipline, and drive execution

  • Strategic decision making and problem solving skills required

  • Identify, evaluate and communicate all issues, risks, decisions, and dependencies to move projects forward on multiple work streams concurrently

  • Interact with other product teams to manage integration points and promote a seamless user experience.

  • Participate in Agile meetings and sprint planning.

  • Ensure smooth transition from project phase to business-as-usual operations

  • Measure, track and benchmark progress/performance against established standards on an ongoing basis and deliver timely, fact-based updates on key initiatives, risks and issues.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills:

  • At least 5 years of relevant project management experience required, including for technology deployments and deployments with accompanying process changes

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Relevant experience in a corporate legal department, law firm or relevant Operations management role, ideally with expertise in Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) vendors such as Icertis, Sirion, Evisort, Agiloft, etc.

  • Strong leadership, management, influencing, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to quickly understand complex subject matter

  • Ability to execute tasks under aggressive targets and effectively manage to changes in plan

  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated

  • Ability to articulate complex issues concisely and effectively with senior audiences

  • Ability to identify business process gaps and drive improved business operating models

  • Strategic decision making and problem-solving skills

  • Balanced stakeholder management approach that achieves team alignment and results

  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy

  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated team player with a strong interest in learning, creating efficient processes and a seamless user experience

  • Tech-savvy and well-versed in legal enterprise software, tools, and applications, including familiarity and practical expertise with CLM software products

  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and/or XP development methodology

  • Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
