Qualifications:

Required:

  • BSN

  • competent in field of infection control

  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in an acute care facility

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Demonstrate ability to communicate and work with persons of diverse backgrounds, and indicate an interest and ability to participate in continued education related to hospital epidemiology.

  • Proficient Computer Skills with ability to utilize spreadsheets, charts, graphs and pivot tables

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement

  • BLS from the American Heart Association

  • CIC Certification or eligible for certification (Eligible to sit for exam after 2 years experience. CBIC within 5 years required)

Essential Functions:

  • The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.

  • Observes and evaluates techniques and practices related to health care associated infection prevention at all levels of health care.

  • Performs surveillance activities and applies an epidemiological approach to problem solving

  • Provides formal and informal education programs to hospital personnel

  • Provides patient education regarding disease transmission and prevention methods

  • Demonstrates increasing knowledge and skill in infection control epidemiology

  • A basic knowledge and application of principles and statistical methods relevant to disease identification, trends analysis, and control

  • Interpret epidemiological markers in outbreak investigation (e.g., bacteriophage typing, DNA, antigen-antibody response, radiologic results, etc.)

  • Collect data on procedures or devices that have been associated with specific healthcare-associated infections (e.g., catheters, intravenous therapy).

$119,000.00 Minimum to $129,000.00 Maximum Annual Base Salary
