Community Action Partnership of Cambria County Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Johnstown, Pennsylvania

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensures all children are appropriately chaperoned and never left unattended in all situations such as facility, transportation, playground, or community outing.
  2. When substituting for an aide on the bus, ensures all children have evacuated the bus, and checks for personal items left on the bus.
  3. Assists Health, Safety, and Nutrition Manager with getting children's health records prepared for registration.
  4. Completes registration.
  5. Prepares and maintains children's health records.
  6. Inputs, tracks, and analyzes health data tracking information in Child Plus and other necessary systems.
  7. Maintains and updates immunization records.
  8. Conducts children's health screenings as indicated.
  9. Provides appropriate health training and/or reference materials to parents, staff and children.
  10. Assists with health emergencies.
  11. Communicates with dental and  physicians' offices and the PA Department of Health.
  12. Assesses and cares for sick/injured children when at the centers.
  13. Helps establish oral & health hygiene routines including preventative medical & dental care.
  14. Establishes positive interactions with children.
  15. Attends health team meetings, in-services, and team meetings.
  16. Submits PIR and data according to Data Management Plan to Health, Safety, and Nutrition Manager.
  17. Attends and/or participates at the health advisory committee meetings.
  18. Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by Health, Safety, and Nutrition Manager or other management as required.

     

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conducts or assists Health Aides with routine head checks.
  2. Attends evening meetings and participates in job related training as required.
  3. When in the center's, eats with children when needed, sharing the same menu while demonstrating socially acceptable behaviors and manners.
  4. Follows the program procedures relating to confidentiality.
  5. Performs overnight travel as required.
  6. Transports clients or participates as required with agency vehicle.
  7. Provides classroom training in each center on blood pressures with the children.
  8. Conducts Health and Safety Inspections at each center for self-assessment.
  9. Mandated Child Abuse/Neglect reporter.
  10. Must pass initial and tri-annual physical exam and TB screening.

     

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Working knowledge of computers, including MS Word, Excel, and other related programs.
  2. Demonstrated ability to direct and manage program goals and objectives.
  3. Experience in conducting training programs.
  4. Knowledge and awareness of local health care facilities.
  5. Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to deal tactfully with the public.
  7. Working knowledge of outcome-based services.

     

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. License Practical Nurse (Required)
  2. Minimum of three (3) years working experience as an LPN.  (Required)
  3. Current PA driver's license and reliable transportation.  (Required)
  4. Free of Child Abuse/Neglect history as verified by proper authorities prior to employment.  (Required)
  5. Must obtain Child Abuse, PA State Police, and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances prior to starting employment.  (Required)
  6. Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification.  (Required)
  7. Must meet vaccination requirements set by funding sources. (Required)
