Job Title: Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker
*Classification: *Full time, non-exempt from overtime provisions of Fair Labor Standards Act-Fluctuating workweek method of overtime pay.
Job Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to provide and coordinate Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (PRS) to individuals with mental illness, which will assist them in obtaining and succeeding in community integration and achieve established rehabilitation goals.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker functions under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator with latitude for independent action within his/her own areas of responsibility, in accordance with agency policy.

QUALIFICATIONS
The position of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker is a professional staff position and requires a person capable of conforming to the high standards of behavior expected of all staff. Excellent work habits, including attendance and punctuality, are required. The person must follow company policies, and safety procedures as well as assuring that customers/clients under his/her supervision follow the same.
Education and Experience:
A Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker shall have:
(1) A bachelor's degree.
Other: A Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker will be screened on an ongoing monthly basis to determine if he/she have been excluded from participation in federal health care programs. If exclusion from participation in federal health care programs occurs, he/she will be precluded from employment in any federally funded healthcare programs operated by Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies.
A Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker must be able to obtain acceptable results for required background checks, including Pennsylvania Child Abuse, Pennsylvania Criminal History and Department of Public Welfare FBI.
Skills/Abilities/Other Qualifications Required
- Knowledge of current best practices in the delivery of PRS, and acceptance of Goodwill's Philosophy Concerning People Served.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret human behavior, and basic knowledge of effective behavior management techniques.
- Sound professional judgment, adequate to formulate realistic program plans, and counseling participants regarding rehabilitation issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing using English.
- Ability to relate effectively to others, including co-workers, agency participants, supervisors and community contacts.
- Thorough knowledge and acceptance of principles of customer service.
- Ability to obtain the Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP) credential within two years of hire.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license, with a clean driving record. Access to dependable transportation, which can be used in the course of his/her job.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening hours and weekends.
- Operating home telephone, so that he/she may be contacted by Goodwill when necessary.
- Computer literate: Basic computer literacy including word processing and spreadsheets.

Physical abilities required: vision and hearing corrected to within normal limits; ability to perform light duty work including occasional standing, for up to 8 hours each day, and occasional medium duty work; ability to do occasional bending, stooping, stretching, pushing and pulling; ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 lbs. occasionally, (material handling equipment will be used to minimize effort expended when practical).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To attend all required training.
- To promote and adhere to the elements of the compliance program, operating within the laws, rules, and regulations required. To report any non-compliance issues to your supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer.
- Establishes a plan of services with each participant, which will assist the participant in achieving his/her goals. Coordinates services with other staff, funding sources, and others who have a significant role in the individual's life.
- Ensures area of responsibility complies with regulations and requirements.
- Conducts intake and orientation activities.
- Develops and implements activities in accordance with needs and rehabilitation plan.
- Provides required documentation to appropriate staff, agency, and funding sources for all services and activities.
- Transports participants when needed, in the company car.
- Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker will be responsible for the following:
- Assist in goal identification.
- Assist in skill development to reach and maintain rehabilitation goals.
- Assist in the support development necessary to reach and maintain rehabilitation goals.
- Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker will perform the following duties:
- Engage the individual in the program.
- Assess interest, readiness and preferences for rehabilitation services.
- Develop and implement a rehabilitation plan.
- Educate the person about mental illness and recovery.
- Inform participants about resources in the community and identify options the person may be interested in pursuing as rehabilitation goals.
- Assess the needs and preferences in terms of skill and supports to develop, achieve, and maintain rehabilitation goals.
- Direct or indirect skills teaching.
- Assist the participant in gaining and utilizing community supports and resources including linking them to appropriate services that are mindful of cultural content.
- Advocate as needed.
- Create a social-cultural environment which supports recovery.
- Continue to develop strategies to assist people develop, achieve, and maintain rehabilitation goals.
- Obtain the credential of Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP) within two years of hire.
- Responsible for other duties as assigned or identified, for the benefit of Goodwill or Mission Services. Some of these other duties may be considered non-essential to the position.
