JOB SUMMARY

Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) is owned by all power generation plants, operating headquarters, transmission maintenance centers, as well as other departments throughout the Southern Company, and is used to monitor and maintain voltage, temperature, pressure, and many other critical measurement areas to specified tolerances. The technician in this position is responsible for calibrating, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on this wide variety of electronic and physical/dimensional M&TE. This position must also support maintenance of working laboratory standards in certified status. Other duties include selecting the proper procedure which describes the calibration parameters and process, recording as-found/as-left data as required, identifying any out-of-tolerance conditions, and documenting all processes to nuclear standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • College coursework and or degree a plus

  • Military or civilian metrology degree

  • Non-degreed highly metrology experienced employee

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Experience working with multiple staff members (in a corporate environment)

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and other company applications (for self-time reporting, self-expense reports, etc.)

  • Data entry experience and experience creating/managing calibration reports

  • Experience using an online timekeeping system/software

  • Ability to provide superior customer service to internal & external customers

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (telephone, verbal, and written)

  • Ability to work well with teammates and customers

  • Must be self-motivated and quick to grasp general concepts and guidelines

  • Possess excellent time management, planning, organization, decision making, and problem-solving skills

  • Flexible, multi-task oriented with the ability to meet deadlines, work with minimum supervision

  • Strong focus and accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to lift 50lbs (ex. heavy test equipment, case of paper, full file folder box, etc.)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Repair and calibrate general Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE)

  • Develop calibration data sheets

  • Interpret logic diagrams and electronic schematics

  • Troubleshoot simple digital and analog circuitry

  • Proper loading/unloading and storage of Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) in/out of delivery van

  • Pick-up and delivery of M&TE to/from customer locations

Position reports to: Mike Lassiter, Metrology Lab Supervisor

Location: Juliette Metrology Lab @ 10986 GA Highway 87, Juliette, GA 31046.

Job Description

This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:

  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).

  • Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.

  • Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
