Queen's Health System Security Officer (Big Island, Full-Time, 40) in Kamuela, Hawaii
RESPONSIBILITIES
JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Patrols the buildings and grounds of the Hospital as well as the outlying properties to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, employees, medical staff and the protection to property.
• Greets, assists and provides service to patients, visitors and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
• Performs duties relative to accomplishing the Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital Emergency Preparedness function.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Required: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
• Frequent: standing, sitting, walking/running, riding of a bicycle, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, twisting body, walking on uneven ground, squatting, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling usual weight of 20 pounds up to 50 pounds of force.
• Occasional: kneeling, crawling.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Exposure to body fluids, blood products, and communicable diseases.
• Work environment may be highly stressful, fast paced, and hectic.
• Exposed to electrical hazards, fire hazards and unsafe conditions and may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, hazardous chemicals and materials, intense heat, extreme cold, natural and manmade disasters and hazards associated with working in and near traffic.
• The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to extreme.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Post-secondary coursework or college degree preferred.
• Current State of Hawaii Guard Registration card.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license required in accordance with Hawaii state law rules and regulations.
• Driver's abstract or evidence of good driving record.
• Meets and complies with qualifications set forth in the QNHCH Fleet/Motor Vehicle policy.
• Current BLS-HCP certification.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in related work is preferred, such as law enforcement, firefighting or security, showing ability in the following:
o Customer service
o Dealing with people
o Writing complete and accurate reports
o Mature, caring and professional behaviors
• Ability to speak, read, write and understand English both orally and in writing and the ability to effectively communicate ideas, thoughts, and concerns.
