Summary
The Supervisor, Railcar Planning is responsible for the tactical planning of the Greenbrier repair shops. They have a clear understanding of each plant’s monthly available hours and shop capabilities to ensure the plants in the network are executing the planned production schedule. This position works closely with the Manager of Railcar Planning, communicating regularly on production updates and ensures production schedules are met by collaborating closely with the operations team.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
Manages car flow across 7 repair shops, ensuring railcars are routed to plants as planned
Maintains KPIs on planning performance, that are used to improve dwell and car flow
Maintains and updates planning programs that provide visuals and data highlighting shop capacity
Collaborates with the operations teams to layout monthly production planning
Stays engaged with the Manager, Railcar Planning relaying updates on production schedules
Understands each of the maintenance shops and allocates work appropriately
Understands key financial and productivity metrics
Ability to articulate and present current production updates and any issues that arise
Supports leaders in the identification, definition and solving of complex problems that affect performance
Partners with leaders and subject matter experts to assess needs in support of developing system strategies and improvements that drive organizational performance.
Acts as an internal consultant in support of strategy deployment, supporting the development of short- and long-term strategies incorporating operating model practices to facilitate progress and achieve strategic objectives.
Builds a culture of continuous learning and enablement.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years’ experience in Railcar Repairs
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year(s) experience planning railcar maintenance production
1+ year(s) experience estimating railcar repairs
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
