Insight Global Assistant General Manager, Manufacturing Engineering in Kansas City, Missouri

Job Description

A client of Insight Global is looking to hire an Assistant General Manager of Manufacturing Engineering. This candidate should have strong technical acumen in industrial automation and systems within a high-volume manufacturing environment, specifically, experience in designing new product and technology introductions, equipment projects (new and continuous improvement), process optimization, upgrades, and modifications.

In addition to developing manufacturing equipment and processes, the ideal candidate will lead a team of technical manufacturing engineers and specialized engineering technicians to build and maintain these systems. They will work closely with R&D, Factory Design, Construction, Quality and Production to take new cell designs or design changes from initial concept through prototype development and into full production. This role will also ensure quality and safety of manufacturing operations, striving to create an environment that drives creativity, engineering first principles, and fostering an open, collaborative environment.

Essential Duties:

Manages several organizational segments or teams and be the key stake holder for large complex company programs.

Oversees the preparation and final approval of project plans.

Conducts or acquires cost analysis for development projects; prepares or delegates preparation of schedule of project completion dates.

Ensures that projects are completed within budget and in an economical manner.

Establishes and implements the strategic direction of the companys engineering and development initiatives.

Collaborates with the company executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems.

Identifies, recommends, and implements new technologies and systems to improve organizational processes and decision-making.

Ensures that departmental decisions such as staffing, development, organization, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organizations business plan and vision.

Establishes, communicates, and implements engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.

Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in engineering and development related to the organizations industry.

Negotiates cost-effective contracts for the organization; coordinates and implements contractors work.

Judgement to compromise between process requirements, economic evaluation, operator effectiveness, and physical and health and safety hazards.

Conceptualize new equipment design, development, testing, installation, and implementation of cell manufacturing equipment.

Design and develop continuous improvement initiatives in safety, environmental, quality, cost, efficiency, and productivity objectives.

Iterate engineering design to meet technical and functional requirements and lead vendors through mechanical, electrical and software design reviews.

Ensure manufacturing lines meet uptime, availability and reliability metrics OEE, cycle time, quality.

Drive high quality standards in everything we do such as process control systems, monitoring and managing key product metrics, consistency in documentation, and 5S initiatives.

Engineering support for system upgrades, creating process plans, tracking budget costs, project schedules and developing countermeasures for timely completion of project goals.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Engineering

Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials or related

8+ years engineering experience in manufacturing OR product development and design environment/industry

  • Battery Production or R&D

5+ years leadership experience

Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies and tools

Strong data analysis skills with tools such as JMP, Minitab, Python, or MATLAB M.S or Ph.D

Electrochemistry and electrochemical analysis

Industrial data analysis or Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

High-volume manufacturing environment (1M+ units per day) such as batteries or electronic devices null
