Where you’ll work:

You will be working onsite at our USDA DISC’s Kansas City, MO location.

Our Customer’s Mission :

The USDA Digital Infrastructure Services Center (DISC) operates 24/7/365 to provide comprehensive on premises and cloud-based hosting services, including Disaster Recovery, security, and professional support services and operations to approximately 35 federal organizations. The USDA and other Federal partners depend upon DISC’s highly complex and interconnected technology infrastructure to conduct their operations. To better support this mission, DISC is modernizing their technology by transitioning to a continuous integration, deployment, and code-based organization.

An average day:

As Facility Operations Specialist II, you will access and troubleshoot the functionality of the building systems and equipment to include HVAC, electrical, chill water, generators, air handlers, etc. You will determine if issues can be repaired by internal resources or if the repair requires outsourcing to a vendor. This position is the primary point of contact with vendors for repairs and acts as a liaison between the vendors and the customer’s facilities manager. In this position you will:

  • Operate, monitor, maintain, inspect, and support data center heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems.

  • Install, test, configure, customize various data center facility support systems.

  • Participate in project teams to replace, repair, and maintain various data center facility systems.

  • Provide oversight and guidance to vendors, perform quality control activities on work completed.

  • Manage potentially emergent situations, lead corrective action and with leadership through resolution.

  • Ensure organization’s compliance with Federal standards including OSHA, EPA, NFPA, as well as other state and local standards.

  • Ensure compliance with hazardous materials management, utilization of confined space, industrial hygiene solid waste reduction, pesticide reduction, and recycling.

  • Diagnose data center support equipment failure and institute action(s) to return equipment to normal operations. Respond to afterhours calls/emergencies in a timely manner if needed as well.

Basic Qualifications:

  • As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.

  • 5+ years of Facilities and Equipment experience in a Datacenter (preferred), Medical Facility or Commercial setting

  • Expertise in modern facilities operations to include HVAC and environmental controls, security, safety systems, power, backup power systems, and smart building decision systems.

  • Skilled at determining electrical power requirements, hardware placement, installation, move, replacement, and removal activities.

  • Ability to communicate applicable technical subject matter expertise to management and others.

  • DISC follows the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service operation best practices. It is important for the employees to demonstrate experience based on ITIL framework:

  • ITIL v4 foundation knowledge.

  • Ability to apply and provide feedback on service operation model and practices.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language. All contractor employees must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Must be capable of directing personnel and interfacing with the Government and customers.

  • Exceptional customer service skills.

  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass federal background investigation and obtain a Public Trust
