WHAT YOUR ROLE ENTAILS AND HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

As a Lead Database Engineer at Hallmark, you will be tasked with designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient and reliable databases to manage Hallmark’s critical data assets. Database engineers serve a crucial role in optimizing database performance, ensuring data integrity, and facilitating data-driven decision-making processes across various business functions. By architecting scalable and secure database systems, they contribute to the organization's ability to store, retrieve, and analyze data effectively, ultimately supporting business operations, strategic initiatives, and regulatory compliance efforts. Lead Database Engineers are expected to provide strategic guidance in database architecture, optimizing performance, and ensuring data security and compliance. They lead initiatives in disaster recovery and business continuity planning, performance tuning and cost optimization, mentor junior team members, and foster cross-functional collaboration to align database efforts with organizational goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years’ professional work experience

  • At least 8 years of experience as a Oracle Database Engineer/Administrator with an understanding of database concepts, data modeling, normalization, and database architecture

  • At least 8 years of experience in SQL (Structured Query Language) including but not limited to writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions to manipulate and retrieve data efficiently

  • At least 8 years of experience in Database Performance Turning, Data Security and Compliance

  • At least 6 years of experience in scripting languages such as Python, Java, PowerShell, or Bash for automating database administration tasks, writing deployment scripts, and performing routine maintenance activities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or 7 years professional work experience

  • Proficiency in administering and tuning Manhattan and BlueYonder applications running on Oracle Database

  • Significant experience administering and supporting systems configured with Oracle Active Data Guard

  • Experience in Backup/Recovery via RMan

  • Experience working with infrastructure deployed in an AWS Cloud environment

  • Red-Hat Linux Operating System Experience and proficiency

  • Familiarity with Agile development concepts and related tools

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (such as Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.)

  • Familiarity with Oracle Best Practice recommendations for both Infrastructure and Operations

  • Familiarity with Oracle License Cost Model and managing entitlement deployments

  • Proficiency and experience working hands-on in a collaborative, cross-team environment

  • Great Verbal and Written Communication Skills

  • Ability to easily adapt and change in a fast pace working environment

  • Willingness to document new procedures and engage in Knowledge Transfer with offshore and lower-level team members
