Insight Global Senior I&C Engineer in Kansas City, Missouri
Job Description

An engineering design client of Insight Global is looking for a Senior I&C Engineer to join their growing team in Kansas City, MO. The Senior I&C Engineer will collaborate with multi-disciplinary or controls-specific teams to create Instrument and Controls Engineering design packages, perform calculations, and develop engineering solutions for maintenance and capital projects across various locations.
- Prepare control systems (DCS and/or PLC) and instrument specifications.
- Develop instrumentation design deliverables, including Instrument Lists, Construction Specifications, Installation Details, and Location Plans.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to create piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Prepare equipment subcontract package specifications.
- Create instrument and control specifications for RFQs and technical bid summaries.
- Draft control narratives based on P&IDs and I/O lists.
- Review and approve HMI screen graphic interfaces.
- Manage project I/O and instrument lists, coordinating with vendors for control system partitioning.
- Verify design calculations, conduct project studies, and prepare reports.
- Prepare specifications for security and site camera systems.
- Develop detailed scope documents for upgrades/migrations.
- Evaluate technical bids and manage vendor contracts.
- Review and approve vendor drawings.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests and perform control wiring design.
- Provide technical assistance during commissioning at project sites.
- Perform quality reviews of project submittals.
- Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Read electrical schematics and one-lines to capture electrical I/O.
- Create instrumentation and control circuits from schematics, one-lines, and P&IDs.
- Perform cable sizing calculations and develop termination interconnects and loop diagrams.

Skills and Requirements
Bachelors degree in Mechanical OR Electrical Engineering
- 7+ years of related experience with power generation projects OR heavy industrial projects OR renewable biomass projects
Experience with boilers OR steam turbines - Professional Engineer License null
