About the Role

  • The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is seeking a Systems Application Analyst to provide application-specific subject matter expertise for a highly complex International Treasury Services (ITS) payment system in support of the Department of Treasury. This role will provide application, infrastructure, and testing support. This role also leverages in-depth technical and business knowledge to support and contribute to application enhancements during all phases of the development lifecycle. Qualified candidates will excel in providing operational technical support in complex and dynamic circumstance.

Key Activities

  • Provides technical support for business solutions, application-related user issues, and/or system hardware problems by performing root causes analysis.

  • Proposes technology solutions to incorporate, improve, redesign, and/or enhance business processes. May guide and assist business owners and/or project managers in determining the scope and vision of solutions. Identifies gaps and may conduct relevant research during the development lifecycle.

  • Independently performs day-to-day responsibilities, may contribute to projects of moderate-to-high complexity with limited management and/or lead oversight, and makes recommendations of limited-to-moderate complexity.

  • Updates, maintains, and monitors the operation of automated systems. May respond to system-generated application alarms by taking appropriate action to remediate. Proactively monitors live application event logs, interprets application events, and engages appropriate technical teams to identify and implement recommended course of remediation.

  • Reviews and/or creates application system documentation (i.e., processes, procedures, system flow diagrams) for supported products.

  • Develops process flows and operational procedures.

  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of cross-border payment processing, including application and associated architecture.

  • Performs holistic troubleshooting for escalated application issues. Isolates, diagnoses, and resolves application related issues.

  • May perform installation and configuration of server applications on designated environments, which includes contingency planning and regular contingency testing of applications and related infrastructure. Identifies gaps in resiliency and proposes solutions.

  • Reviews and/or creates application system documentation (i.e., processes, procedures, system flow diagrams) for supported products.

  • Partners and communicates effectively with all stakeholders on escalated application issues. Communicates status of resolution to appropriate parties.

  • May be required to provide technical support in a 24/7 operations environment, which might necessitate additional work outside of normal business hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Typically requires at least 3 years of relevant experience.

  • Associate’s degree specializing in information technology or a closely related field from an accredited two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience.

  • Performs most work independently with general supervision and direction. May consult with management or more senior staff in decision making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ITIL V4 foundation, AWS foundational level, or similar certification.

  • Able to read and create SQL scripts.

  • Knowledgeable of WebSphere and Oracle technologies.

  • Knowledge of international payment processing.

  • Familiar with Cloud Technologies and Services.
