UMB Bank Tax Information Reporting and Withholding (IRW) Compliance Manager in Kansas City, Missouri
The Corporate Tax team is essential to the success of UMB. This team works to increase shareholder value by minimizing the corporate tax burden and maintaining compliance with the tax laws. We are an “in-house” tax department that will utilize outside specialists when needed. We love tax, love problem solving, and take the time to learn and educate others.
Working in the Corporate Tax team at UMB can be fun and collaborative. We are a close-knit team of associates that work together and support one another. We take the time to educate ourselves on issues and stay up to date with tax law changes and their impact on UMB. We produce quality workpapers, supporting memos and documentation for tax re‐ turns and positions. Our department meetings are collaborative and a place where we engage in tax discussions to learn from each other.
As the IRW Tax Compliance Manager you will be responsible for working with business partners or other leaders to ensure compliance of U.S. tax information reporting and FATCA compliance program for the Company.
How you’ll spend your time:
Manage tax form validation process using validation platform and tax form workflow tool
Review and monitor changes in forms, rules and requirements and ensure implementation of those changes
Manage and support line of business with tax form validation process
Review and approve Form W-8/CRS validations
Manage annual GIIN verification
Manage re-solicitation of tax forms
Assist with tax reporting for annual information tax return process (e.g., 1099, 1042-S)
Research and respond Form W-8/CRS inquiries
Provide Form W-8 training to business and operations divisions
Provide guidance relating to account setup and tax reporting within source system
Participate in special projects or enhancements as assigned
Assist with audits (internal, external and regulatory) surrounding Form W-8 and 1042-S
We’re excited to talk with you if:
You possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax or Finance with 4 years relevant experience (i.e. 1099/1042-s, W-9, W-8) OR
You have any combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background
Bonus Points if:
You possess a Master’s degree in Accounting, Tax or Business
You possess a Juris Doctor degree
You have 2 years of experience with a Big 4 public accounting firm
You have a CPA designation
You have experience using a tax form validator tool
Compensation Range:
Minimum: $69,230.00 - Maximum: $179,300.00
The posted compensation range on this listing represents UMB’s standard for this role, but the actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
