As a part of our technical team, you will work to bring ground-breaking and diverse ideas to life that power the digital systems, services, products, and platforms that our colleagues depend on.

You will do this by:

  • Developing seamless integrations between vendor products and the Amex environment by utilizing enterprise APIs, file transfer, and Identity and Access platforms

  • Collaborating with product owners, delivery managers, vendors, engineers, architects, and key stakeholders to resolve complex technical problems and create solutions for the Colleague Benefits portfolio.

  • Maintaining the Platform Health of 100 vendor products through vulnerability remediation, CMDB validation and maintenance, threat modeling, and ensuring enterprise resiliency

Job Responsibilities:

  • Function as an engineer on an Agile team, contributing to the technical delivery through consistent engineering practices (usage of enterprise tools, reusable components, and technical documentation)

  • Develop deep understanding of Colleague Benefits application logic, middleware, backend technologies, and dependencies within the context of a SaaS/PaaS/Cloud technology ecosystem.

  • Perform technical aspects of software development, configuration, and remediation for assigned applications including design, developing prototypes, and coding assignments.

  • Develop, support, configure, and maintain strategic applications for Colleague Benefits portfolio of applications

  • Provide L2/L3 production support for Colleague Benefits applications.

  • Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments.

  • Automate deployments in test and production environments and leverage enterprise CI/CD

  • Ensure alignment of strategy, architecture, tools/methods with staff architects to execute product roadmaps

  • Effectively communicate to technical and non-technical peers, and business partners to gather requirements and communicate solutions.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership in resolving technical issues to deliver on time with quality.

  • Accountability for platform health of product portfolio, including system performance, platform availability, vulnerabilities and exceptions, standards alignment, scheduled task health, information security, and data management.

Minimum Qualifications:

5 years of software development experience in a professional environment or comparable experience such as:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required

  • Familiar with Agile or other rapid application development methods

  • Experience with design and coding in Java and across one or more platforms and additional languages as appropriate

  • UI experience using React is good to have

  • Backend experience including relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL is good to have

  • Hands-on expertise with application design, software development, and automated testing

  • Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, APIs, and relational databases

  • Experience with object-oriented design and coding with variety of languages

  • System Integration experience in a SaaS/PaaS/Cloud environment

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines with independent judgement.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organization and prioritization skills

  • Proven ability to solve technical problems and the ability to influence key stakeholders.
