As a part of our technical team, you will work to bring ground-breaking and diverse ideas to life that power the digital systems, services, products, and platforms that our colleagues depend on.
You will do this by:
Developing seamless integrations between vendor products and the Amex environment by utilizing enterprise APIs, file transfer, and Identity and Access platforms
Collaborating with product owners, delivery managers, vendors, engineers, architects, and key stakeholders to resolve complex technical problems and create solutions for the Colleague Benefits portfolio.
Maintaining the Platform Health of 100 vendor products through vulnerability remediation, CMDB validation and maintenance, threat modeling, and ensuring enterprise resiliency
Job Responsibilities:
Function as an engineer on an Agile team, contributing to the technical delivery through consistent engineering practices (usage of enterprise tools, reusable components, and technical documentation)
Develop deep understanding of Colleague Benefits application logic, middleware, backend technologies, and dependencies within the context of a SaaS/PaaS/Cloud technology ecosystem.
Perform technical aspects of software development, configuration, and remediation for assigned applications including design, developing prototypes, and coding assignments.
Develop, support, configure, and maintain strategic applications for Colleague Benefits portfolio of applications
Provide L2/L3 production support for Colleague Benefits applications.
Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments.
Automate deployments in test and production environments and leverage enterprise CI/CD
Ensure alignment of strategy, architecture, tools/methods with staff architects to execute product roadmaps
Effectively communicate to technical and non-technical peers, and business partners to gather requirements and communicate solutions.
Demonstrate strong leadership in resolving technical issues to deliver on time with quality.
Accountability for platform health of product portfolio, including system performance, platform availability, vulnerabilities and exceptions, standards alignment, scheduled task health, information security, and data management.
Minimum Qualifications:
5 years of software development experience in a professional environment or comparable experience such as:
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required
Familiar with Agile or other rapid application development methods
Experience with design and coding in Java and across one or more platforms and additional languages as appropriate
UI experience using React is good to have
Backend experience including relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL is good to have
Hands-on expertise with application design, software development, and automated testing
Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, APIs, and relational databases
Experience with object-oriented design and coding with variety of languages
System Integration experience in a SaaS/PaaS/Cloud environment
Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines with independent judgement.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organization and prioritization skills
Proven ability to solve technical problems and the ability to influence key stakeholders.
