Kenton Community Health Center Medical Assistant in Kenton, Ohio

Medical Assistant ($3,000 Sign-On Bonus)

Full Time: 7:30 am - 8:00 pm (3 -12's shifts)

Kenton Community Health Center Hours of Operation Monday through Friday

 

POSITION PURPOSE

Under general supervision in a patient centered medical home setting, the Medical Assistant provides initial patient intake, assists with direct patient care, and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature, as dictated by established clinical protocol.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

*EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:       *HS Diploma or GED required

*REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:              *Successful completion of in-house training.

*EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:              *At least 1 year of directly related experience preferred.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • CPR - BLS (basic life support) Required
  • Ability to perform standard clinical procedures according to established protocols.
  • Ability to perform routine invasive procedures, such as HIV testing, in accordance with established clinical protocol.
  • Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Ability to maintain calendars and schedule appointments.
  • Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment within established parameters.
  • Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
  • Knowledge of outpatient clinical administrative procedures.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations.
  • Performs routine specialized procedures, such as HIV screenings, fluoride varnish application and sterile dressing changes under established protocols.
  • Completes patient health screenings including hearing, vision, and all CLIA waived testing.
  • Administers injections after appropriate training.
  • Administers immunizations and medications that are not controlled substances. 
  • Maintains stock of medical supplies as necessary.
  • Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
  • Schedules and monitors patient appointments; may coordinate routine office activities and administrative functions in support of unit activities.
  • Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
  • May recruit patients for studies and may participate in outreach clinical activities as required.
  • Performs patient education and discharge instructions.
  • Completes referrals and schedules tests for patients.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
