Actalent Process Engineer in Kewanee, Illinois

Overview

Process Engineers will be directly responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing processes and process documentation on the shop floor. Process Engineers will also collaborate with Corporate Manufacturing Engineering to develop and execute new manufacturing processes for new product designs and new equipment.

Responsibilities

• Directly work with operators on the shop floor to solve tactical day-to-day improvement projects

• Assist Corporate Manufacturing Engineering and Process Engineers with larger projects as required

• Author and maintain work instructions for the shop floor

• Participate in Root Cause – Corrective Action exercises for defects that occurred in their assigned area

• Serve as a technical liaison between Production Engineering and Operations

• Assist in manufacturability studies with Production Engineering and Corporate “Core” Engineering

• Purchase of hand tools and small equipment in support of improvement projects

• Design of shop aids and small tooling in support of improvement projects

• Own the process and collaborate with Corporate Manufacturing Engineering on the execution of manufacturing pilots and manufacturing trials to support new product and new process designs

• Train operators on any new processes and process changes

• Collaborate with Operations Supervisors to guide training, both new employees and recurring training in assigned area

• Assist plant maintenance on upkeep of machines in assigned area

Job Requirements:

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

• Basic familiarization with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems

• Knowledge of PFMEA and Control Plans

• Ability to read and interpret 2D blueprints and 3D models

• Familiarization or basic experience with drafting work instructions

• Basic experience with 2D drafting and 3D modelling (AutoCAD, DraftSight, Solidworks, CATIA, etc.)

• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to effectively communicate with operators

• Familiarization with line balancing, work measurement, and cost justification techniques

• Analytical problem solving skills

• Familiarization with Lean and Six Sigma principles

• Travel: up to 25%
