Joint Activities Program Coordinator Assistant (OA) in Key West, Florida

Summary About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Joint Interagency Task Force South, Personnel, Manpower & Admin Directorate, U.S. Southern Command, Key West, FL. Responsibilities Serves as program coordinator assistant for Joint Inter-agency Task force South. Monitors military personnel action request, tracks personnel, manpower, and training transactions. Assists in writing orders, making travel arrangements, drafting required letters for country theater clearances. Assists with the preparation of personnel actions and correspondence. Conducts telephone conversations for conferences and discussions on making decisions for the organization. Serves as the liaison between Higher Headquarters and the individual directorates on military and civilian personnel issues. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience 1.) making travel arrangement, writing orders and/or drafting letters and other correspondence; and 2). receive, open, and review all incoming mail. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Public Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. This is a(n) 0303 series Career Field position. TERM: This announcement is for a term position. Permanent employees who apply, are selected for, and ultimately accept this position will be converted to a term appointment. Term positions in DCIPS may be extended up to six years; however, they may be extended an additional two years with Agency approval. A DCIPS term employee may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a DCIPS permanent appointment. To be converted to such an appointment, the employee must: 1. Be initially selected from an announcement that specifically stated that the individual could be eligible for noncompetitive conversion to a permanent DCIPS appointment at a later date; 2. Have completed at least two years of continuous service with at least a "Successful" overall evaluation of record; and 3. Be converted to a permanent DCIPS position in the same work level or grade for which hired may be converted to a higher work level or grade. This position may be converted to permanent without further competition after completion of two years of continuous service in this position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Advance in hire maybe authorized.
