Shire Finance Controller MEA, Israel & CIS in Kiev, Ukraine

Primary Duties

  • Month-end close support to Accounting Service Providers in MEA & CIS region and to internal Finance Shared Service Centers (SSCs) in Poland and Ireland

  • Timely and accurate reporting of monthly results by ensuring correct cost centre and GL account postings in Accounting Providers’ ERPs and reconciliation with Shire ERP

  • Review/ prepare monthly BS reconciliations

  • Perform monthly BS and P&L review and provide commentary to management

  • Ensure Vendor Payments are processed on time by coordinating with local business teams and accounting service providers while ensuring controls and compliance with Shire Policies

  • Ensure accurate recording of month-end Sales and Opex accruals by coordinator with SSCs and Accounting Providers

  • Support Commercial Finance Team to provide Actuals (Opex) reports and explanation for any variances

  • Review Corporate credit card transaction and reconcile with accounting providers posting

  • Support local business teams for queries related to vendor payments, processes and policies.

  • Intercompany cross charges review and coordination with Intercompany team and Accounting Providers

  • Coordination with external auditors and ensuring timely completion of external audits and statutory filings for the region responsible i.e. Financial Statements, VAT and Tax returns

  • Work closely with Regional Controller to seek guidance on Shire accounting and controlling policies and ensure Global guidance is followed

  • Develop good understanding of Shire Corporate ERP and Reporting systems and ensure data accuracy

  • Provide support in managing on-going Shire projects e.g. ERP implementation, Legal entity integration, streamlining of accounting processes and controls etc.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • University degree in finance/economics

  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CA, CPA or equivalent)

  • Good understanding of US GAAP, IFRS and SOX is essential

  • Experience both in accounting and audit (preferably Big 4) will be considered as advantage

Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

  • Strong technical and financial knowledge, including understanding of internal control requirements and accounting processes as well as understanding of relevant business environment

  • FMCG or Pharmaceutical MNCs experience is essential.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and an effective communicator

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage tight reporting deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve objectives

  • Must be capable of working in fast-paced, self-directed, and changing environment

  • Ability to prioritize effectively and juggle multiple competing priorities for different stakeholders

  • Ability to manage cross-functionally and influence decisions

  • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization, from executive and functional leaders to regional and operations resources

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make good fact-based decisions on your own

  • Upper-intermediate English
