Java Software Engineer

What does a successful Java Software Engineer do at Fiserv?

What You Will Do:

  • Develop software solutions using established engineering best practices, Java Back-End Development.

  • Collaborate with team members in Scrum Agile events to deliver high-quality code.

  • Design and deliver working software through our established coding standards and automation capabilities.

  • Implement automated tests to verify software behavior during the build process.

  • Identify and fix problems by debugging malfunctioning or underperforming code.

  • Participate in code reviews, providing technical feedback to team members.

  • Continuously improve team execution through learning and adopting new technologies and practices.

  • Build and maintain CI/CD processes through pipeline automation.

What You Need to Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent combination of experience, education and military.

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience.

  • 4+ years of experience with modern programming and scripting languages (Java/Spring Boot).

  • 4+ years of experience with datastores and writing database queries.

  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, GitOps, and Agile methodologies.

  • Proficiency with using Git for code management, including branching and merging practices.

What Would Be Great to Have:

  • Experience with Docker: You’ve built and managed Docker images, enhancing your ability to deploy and scale applications.

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes: You have a solid understanding of Kubernetes, including container management and monitoring.

  • Exposure to AWS Cloud Services: You’re familiar with AWS Cloud services and hold or are working towards an AWS certification.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD Pipelines: You’ve worked with CI/CD pipelines, ideally with GitLab CI, to streamline development and deployment processes.

  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code: You have hands-on experience with IaC frameworks like Helm, helping automate infrastructure management.
