About the Role:

Acts as a liaison between IT development groups and business units for the development and implementation of new systems and enhancement of current systems. Evaluates new applications, system requirements, developments in field of expertise, and evolving business needs to recommend appropriate solutions and alternatives. Under general direction, uses specialized knowledge or skills to solve complex and unique problems, or direct the daily activities of a business, technical support, or functional support team. Establishes priorities for the completion of assigned tasks. Uses judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices. May direct resources, prioritize tasks and provide guidance to less experienced team members. Relies upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of field to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy. Skills required for this job are typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree and 7+ years of experience.

Responsibilities:

Product Vision and Roadmap:

  • Define and communicate the product vision and long-term strategy in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Maintain and prioritize the product roadmap to align with business goals and customer needs.

Backlog Management:

  • Create, refine, and prioritize the product backlog based on the needs of the business, stakeholders, and end-users.

  • Ensure that the development team has a clear understanding of the requirements for each product backlog item.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Act as the primary point of contact between the business stakeholders and the development team.

  • Gather and translate business requirements into clear user stories and technical specifications.

  • Regularly update stakeholders on the product’s progress, upcoming features, and potential issues.

Sprint Planning and Execution:

  • Collaborate with the Scrum Master and development team to plan and execute sprints as appropriate.

  • Review completed work during sprint reviews (testing) and provide feedback for improvements.

  • Adjust priorities and the product backlog based on feedback and changing needs.

User Story Definition:

  • Write detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria.

  • Ensure that user stories are well-understood by the development team and meet the Definition of Ready (DoR).

Release Management:

  • Define and prioritize the minimum viable product (MVP) and feature releases.

  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality features.

  • Coordinate release planning with operations, customer care, supply chain, claims, and other departments.

Customer Feedback and Continuous Improvement:

  • Gather feedback from end-users, customers, and stakeholders to continuously improve the product.

  • Analyze market trends and adjacent/competitor products to identify opportunities for enhancement.

  • Adjust product strategy and backlog based on feedback and performance metrics.

Risk Management:

  • Identify risks and work with the team to develop mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure that critical features are delivered on time and within budget.

Qualification and Skill Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen due to contractual requirements.

  • Strong knowledge of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to define, prioritize, and manage a product backlog .

  • Experience in writing user stories , defining acceptance criteria, and overseeing backlog grooming.

  • Strong analytical skills to assess market trends, customer feedback, and performance metrics.

  • Understanding of software development processes and the technical aspects of product design.

  • Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence , or similar.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business , or a related field.

  • Typically 3-5+ years of experience in product management or as a Product Owner .
