JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Inspector (Mechanical focus) will work from blueprints, engineering change notices, or established operating procedures to perform a wide range of inspection procedures and determine acceptance, rejection, or rework requirements at various stages of production.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform Shipping Inspection duties utilizing internal systems and coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet company shipping requirements

  • Inspect critical in-process and/or finished production assemblies and subassemblies for conformance to drawings and quality assurance standards

  • Reviews, evaluates, and provides feedback on procedures and drawings

  • Determines methods, sequences, and procedures necessary for inspection with machines and advanced tools

  • Provide training and coaching to base level Inspectors on the interpretation and application of requirements of Industry workmanship standards, ES procedures and EPS procedures in Inspection process

  • Contributes to the implementation of special set ups on equipment

  • May perform audits of products and processes

  • May perform and approve internal First Article Inspections (FAI)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Demonstrates competency (typically 2-4 years of direct experience in the duties and responsibilities of the position) for consideration as Quality Inspector.

  • Demonstrates proficiency (typically 5-7 years of direct experience in the duties and responsibilities of the position) for consideration as Sr. Quality Inspector.

Technical Skills:

  • MS Office products to include intermediate MS Excel skills

  • Skilled at using department systems

  • Demonstrated mechanical inspection experience

Preferred Technical Skills:

  • Experience using and programming a comparator or vision system like a MicroVu

  • Experience using a CMM

  • Reading mechanical drawings that may have GD&T

  • Fixturing parts when using measurement equipment

  • Use of a height gage

  • Familiar with measuring sheet metal parts

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

  • An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background and drug screening which includes screening for the use of cannabis.

Quality Inspector base salary is $20.12 - $27.22 per hour.

Sr. Quality Inspector base salary is $22.50 - $33.75 per hour.
