Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is seeking a Sr. Technical Program Manager to bring their expertise to our team of diverse, professional problem solvers in our Advanced Power Control (APC) Group in Kirkland, WA.

This is a hybrid/on-site position that offers flexibility to work from home two days per week based on project needs.

Candidates local to the greater Seattle/Kirkland, WA area are highly desired. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Job Summary

The overriding business objective for the Technical Program Manager will be to successfully transition AES to a world-recognized leader in aircraft electrical power systems for small to mid-sized business jets, UAV's and rotorcraft.

The key performance objectives for this position are described below:

  • Customer Management: Able to effectively communicate at all levels of the customer organization including senior executives; seeks customer feedback and problem resolution; manages customer expectations and communications to reduce risk to the company; create and maintain business relationships to gain follow-on business.

  • Contract Management: Understands contractual obligations and communicates contract requirements to other organizations inside and outside the company.

  • New Product Introduction: Leads or supports the transition from development to production of new products. Determines initial manufacturing build requirements, develop build plans, and coordinates the support of this plan with Operations. Coordinates the identification and development of subcontract suppliers including any validation activities required. Ensures documentation and test equipment is available to support production.

  • Product Changes: Manages all change and improvement activities associated with assigned, moderately complex and moderate volume products. Develops plans to the extent needed for the situation and ensures the plan is communicated to all involved parties and resources are allocated. May oversee development of analysis and test data to support customer approvals of changes. Manages the communications of the activity with the customer. Participates in Change Control Board. Monitors and addresses component obsolescence for assigned products.

  • Product Cost: Coordinates process improvements and design improvements that reduce the cost of assigned products. May lead cross functional teams to address product cost improvement initiatives and report status and progress of those initiatives to management.

  • Yield Management: Primary responsibility to ensure Yield targets are met. Monitors Yield data and takes proactive steps to address issues that are affecting Yield in Operations or at suppliers. Manages activities and cross functional teams tasked with improving Yield. Communicates performance and steps taken to meet Yield targets for assigned products at a minimum during Product Program Reviews and more frequently as the situation necessitates.

  • Failure Investigations: Leads or supports failure investigations that include identifying the root cause analysis and appropriate corrective actions. Evaluates field return data to identify failure trends and take appropriate action. Leads Failure Review Boards for assigned products as necessitated.

  • Management/Communication: Manages all activities associated with assigned products to ensure prioritization, responsibility and closure. Maintains tools to effectively manage and communicate these activities. Composes monthly program review materials to summarize and communicate activity and performance of assigned products.

  • Technical Knowledge: Develops and maintains good technical understanding of assigned products. May mentor or teach others about the performance and design of assigned products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. MBA preferred.

  • Six (6) or more years of work experience in program management, operations, engineering, procurement or other related functions.

  • Prefer four (4) or more years of multi-discipline team leadership experience.

  • Experience with Aerospace engineering development projects is required.

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

  • An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing pre-employment background check and drug test which includes screening for the use of cannabis .

Salary is $122,103 - $183,004 per year.
