The Walt Disney Company Industrial Designer- Temporary Assignment/Project Hire in Kissimmee, Florida

Disney Live Entertainment Costuming Industrial Designers are instrumental in the development of character product for use at all Disney Experience sites around the globe. The Industrial Designer collaborates with various partners to craft cost-effective manufacturing layouts for new and redeveloped products. With a focus on efficiency and ergonomics, this role is pivotal to the success of the costume development lifecycle. This role will report to the Manager-Costume Design and Development

This is a temporary role with no guarantee of permanent placement.

You Will:

  • Proficiently build/communicate design concepts through 3D design software while showcasing innovative and creative design solutions.

  • Maintains knowledge of best practices in manufacturing methods, and trends and developments in technology and equipment; applies this knowledge to maintain the organizations competitive edge

  • Identifies and assesses various problems and departures from established manufacturing standards and best practices; researches and recommends solutions

  • Implements methods and modifications to reduce production costs.

  • Look for areas of opportunity to improve efficiency for the organization and strive for consistent processes within the department.

  • Ensure costume standards are being met as we develop new or update existing products

  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and implementing standards and procedures and aligning with Company guidelines

  • Establish an open and encouraging working relationship with co-workers and support staff across the organization, and across partnering teams

  • Review and prepare workflow, resource needs and action plans while ensuring efficiency, quality, and customer service standards are met

You Will Have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in industrial design with a focus on product development

  • 3+ years’ experience in 3D CAD/ 3D Design with an emphasis on Surface Modeling/Design

  • Experience using 3D applications such as Solidworks, Fusion 360, GeoMagic Design X, Rhino or related

  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution experience

  • Experience working in a fast paced environment with competing tasks

  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction

  • Experience collaborating and working through compromise that result in win/win agreements and outcomes

  • Experience communicating (verbal and written) with partners at all levels

  • Experience facilitating work sessions to drive commitments and accountability

  • Experience delivering projects timely and on-budget while communicating with executive leadership, sponsors and clients

  • Experience working in a business environment where cost benefit and return on investment analysis are key decision factors

  • Valid drivers' license

  • Ability to work with various synthetic fibers, fabrics and furs

  • Flexible hours including weekends, nights, and holidays are required

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20% of the time and internationally up to 5% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid US Passport

  • Project management

Education:

  • Advanced degree in Industrial Design or related fields is required
