Major Responsibilities
- Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers by performing limited repairs with
minimal supervision on both basic and complex maintenance such as replacement of light bulbs,
fuses, lenses, wiper blades, belts, hoses, batteries, check fluid levels, change fluids and filters and
lubricate components.
- Perform mechanical repairs under minimal supervision including the repair of brakes and brake
inspections, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.
- Maintain records of all maintenance work completed on vehicles including parts and supplies used.
Ensure that work orders are completed properly and accurately. Maintain parts usage records and
order repair parts from designated suppliers.
- Diagnoses and performs accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair under minimal
supervision. May perform diagnostic tests utilizing a computer and manufacturer’s software to
determine mechanical defects.
- Remove, overhaul and reinstallation of mechanical components with minimal Tech in Charge
supervision
- Other responsibilities as requested or required
Minimum Education & Certifications Required
2+ years of diesel or CNG repair employment experience or combination of education & experience.
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehiclerepair (preferred)
Class B CDL with passenger endorsement required (or expected within 3 months of hire)
State inspection license (if required)
ASE Certification preferred. Must participate in ASE testing program (expected to have 6 ASE within6 months of hire)
Minimum Experience & Skills Required
Advanced mechanical aptitude and 5 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred) or equivalent education and experience
Adhere to standards set by state DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards
Valid driver’s license
Advanced problem-solving ability
Advanced computer skills
Comfortable using hand tools
Excellent customer service skills and communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Maintain an organized shop and clean work environment
Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
Possess adequate mechanic tool inventory to complete all assigned duties and maintained in a cleanand safe manner
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Maintenance Shop environment with dust, dirt and grease conditions
Ability to work under all weather conditions
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
Ability to work in a crouched position or on back, lying on mechanic’s creeper, beneath motorvehicle equipment
