Performance Pipe, a Division of Chevron Phillips Chemical Co, LP. is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Plant Manager at the Knoxville, Tennessee manufacturing facility. The Plant Manager is the senior leader on site and reports to the Manufacturing Manager, a member of the Performance Pipe Leadership Team.

The Plant Manager is responsible for all phases of plant operations and ensuring a collaborative environment between the site and the rest of the organization. The role requires strong inspirational leadership, technical and enhanced communication skills. This leader will have a relentless focus in sustaining a safe injury free work environment that fosters a culture of compliance with all safety policies and practices, production efficiency, cost discipline, continuous improvement, ensuring an emphasis on talent acquisition, development, and retention, and driving business results the right way. The ideal candidate can balance competing priorities, resolve complex issues, and work with a diverse group of stakeholders across the company.

Key job responsibilities include the following:

  • Direct manufacturing operations with and through a team of managers and supervisors.

  • Oversee Safety Management and Operational Excellence activities of the facility including Life Saving Rules and compliance to environmental rules and regulations. Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager to ensure all members of the manufacturing team are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees. Maintain and support a superior safety and housekeeping program, including timely communication of initiatives.

  • Assist and manage engineering and optimization support for the facility including energy and process improvement studies, and equipment installations.

  • Authorize expenditures within approved budget guidelines to maintain safe, environmentally compliant and efficient plant operations.

  • Work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement.

  • Review established production schedules to ensure customer orders and/or established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.

  • Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment.

  • Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals.

  • Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity.

  • Analyze workforce requirements. Collaborate with the Corporate HR Department, to recruit, develop, and retain the required staffing levels to support a reliable operation. As the key driver of the plant’s culture, develop strategy, programs, and tools to drive a high performing and effective organization.

  • Promote community relations as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years manufacturing management experience at the superintendent level or above OR High School Diploma/GED and 10+ years’ experience in polyethylene pipe manufacturing with progressive experience in a key leadership/management role

  • Previous experience and strong understanding of budgeting, expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations, maintenance and engineering including an aptitude for equipment operations and troubleshooting.

  • Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.

  • Proven leadership capabilities that value diversity and inspires all team members on site to achieve targets and improvements in safety, quality, production efficiencies, customer satisfaction, conversion costs, and other key metrics.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication and listening skills with the ability to develop a respectful and collaborative work environment; use sound and prudent judgment; and effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the company.

  • Must be highly motivated, results oriented and possess a sense of urgency.

  • Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills. Experience with assessing and developing employee skills. Experienced with the progressive discipline process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline

  • Knowledge of plastic processing
