Process Control Technician II Metals Lab 2nd Shift

Work Mode: Onsite

Location: Onsite at Kohler, WI

2nd Shift Hours 2:00 PM-10:00 PM

Opportunity

Responsible for providing technical support in melt, molding, and process related functions for the Cast Iron Division manufacturing processes.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Obtain samples from the molding lines and casting finishing.

  • Prepare cast iron samples for metallographic examination; spectrographic analysis; Carbon and Sulphur analysis.Test samples to determine iron chemistry and microstructural composition.

  • Fill out hold tickets when chemistries or mechanical properties are out of specification and notify the molding lines.

  • Section castings and test material for further lab testing.

  • Prepare chemical solutions as needed for testing.

  • Communicate test results and other pertinent details to Melt Controllers, Molding Line Operators, Casting Finishing personnel and/or Supervisors.

  • Provide process information and support shop floor problem solving with various production teams.

  • Maintain records and perform computer operations associated with daily Metals Lab operations.

  • Participate in 5S and housekeeping activities in and around the lab, sample collection and cull pile areas where normal daily work is performed.

  • Follow proper standard work, including the utilization of PPE and safety practices at all times.

  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment, including routine equipment standardizations and select calibrations.

  • Perform any other duty assigned by supervision

Skills/Requirements

  • High school diploma and one year of prior related work experience required.

  • Must be mechanically inclined.

  • Two years’ experience or the equivalent in metallurgical and/or sand laboratory equipment, operation and maintenance preferred.

The hourly range for this position is $19.95 - $24.95. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
