AIG (AIG Sonpo) Senior Risk Analyst, Insurance Risk (Tokyo) in ku, Japan, Tokyo, United States

Position Summary:

Responsible for supporting the Insurance and Nat Cat Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for detailed modelling and analysis work on both the Standard Model (ESR Field Test) and the Economic Capital Model (a.k.a. Internal Model).

Please refer to the primary responsibilities such as model run update, stress testing and preliminary output analysis for AIG Japan (including AIG Sonpo, AHA).

[Skills]

You will be asked to comprehensively understand AIG Japan's Economic Capital Model. Capital modelling is of utmost importance as the company seeks to optimize its insurance writing, reinsurance structure and asset allocation to achieve the highest risk adjusted return for investors. Throughout the role, you will be able to improve your ability to make sensible actions and suggestions for the business and enhance your competencies of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to enrich your future career development.

This role is also enabling candidate to develop a global vision through dynamic interaction/collaboration with our international ERM colleagues.

[Work style]

ERM is a function that allows flexible working arrangement than other functions due to its nature and may be able to accommodate candidate’s request upon mutual agreement with the manager, subject to compliance with applicable external & internal rules and regulation.

※ The role has some flexibility in job grade between 1820 considering the level of candidate’s previous business experience & expertise.

RESPONSIBILITY (GJG range intended)

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Support ERM leading firmwide implementation of ESR regulatory framework and related field tests and transformation efforts  

     

2.Take responsibility for ECM run update ensuring that the end-to-end process is complete, accurate and appropriate.20

3.Learn and manage semi-annual GIRO model update.

4.Put together processes and reports for stress testing. Learn and support executing stress tests for specific risk area such as Insurance, Nat Cat and Investment.

5.Work closely with the SQL database engineer on the development of Internal Model output automation.

6.Perform actuarial / quantitative analysis of the model outputs for testing and validation purposes.

7.Documentation: maintain and update the documentation supporting the Internal Model.

8.Work on preparation of RCC slide deck for AIG Sonpo/AJH MC and BoD.

9.Support the drafting of relevant sections in Own Risk & Solvency Assessment (ORSA) Report for FSA.

10.Interact with overseas colleagues, e.g., GI-International, AIG Inc.

Desired skills, experience, and knowledge to perform This job Function:

  • Fluent in Japanese and Business level English

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Mathematics, Statistics or Actuarial Science

  • Minimum 3+ years of insurance experience (Capital/Risk/Reserving/Pricing) with good understandings of Non-life Insurance and/or Health Insurance

  • Business IT literacy (Microsoft Office, VBA, R and SQL)

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work under own initiative and show flexibility to meet business needs

  • (Preferred) Experience of using Statistical/DFA modeling platforms/tools

  • (Preferred) Work experience with overseas in English

  • (Preferred) Insurance products and practice knowledge

  • (Preferred) Project management experience and knowledge
