WorkSource Oregon Family Peer Support Specialist and Case Manager in La Grande, Oregon

Center for Human Development, Inc. is seeking a full-time Family Peer Support Specialist and Case Manager with shared lived experience who works with families raising a child with emotional, behavioral, mental health, or developmental challenges. The Family Partner\'s role is to support the family, help them to engage and actively participate on their team and/or treatment process and make informed decisions that drive the wraparound process. The Family Partner uses personal and professional life experience to provide consultation and coaching to increase awareness and improve parent/caregiver-professional partnerships and maximize parent/caregiver voice, choice and involvement. In general, the Family Partner role is defined as using personal and professional life experiences to establish credibility and infuse hope for a better future, to demonstrate unconditional acceptance, and to assist with problem solving. The Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age Bachelor\'s degree in a behavioral sciences field; or a combination of at least three year\'s relevant work, education, training or experience in a mental health field with approval from Mental Health Director. One year of lived experience and show knowledge of the mental health system and how to navigate it. Prior knowledge of (or experience with) laws and policies related to special education, mental health and other disabilities, child welfare, and juvenile justice preferred. Must be able and willing to schedule work in a flexible manner, including some evenings and weekends. Must pass all criminal history check requirements as required by ORS 181.536-181.537 and in accordance with OAR 407-007-0200-407-007-0370 and drug screening. Must be able to complete 40 hour Peer Delivered Services training and register as a Traditional Health Worker- Family Support Partner with The Office of Equity and Inclusion within 90 days of hire Must possess a valid Oregon Driver\'s license and be insurable for client service purposes, travel between business offices, and to attend required meeting and/or trainings. Essential Functions: Work intensively with parents to promote engagement in strength based problem solving. Explore strengths, needs, culture and vision with the family. Participate in child and family team meetings, school meetings and other pertinent meetings to ensure access, voice and choice within the child and family team process and support the parent/caregivers connection to the child and family team. Finds local resources needed by the family (housing, basic needs, education, health services etc.). Assist parent/caregiver in accessing services (filling out forms etc.) and helps parent/caregiver navigate these systems. Develop and maintain constructive and positive relationships as a member of a team, demonstrating qualities of dependability, empathy, and respect as a team member and as a peer.
