GENERAL DESCRIPTIONPerforms management work activities of a child support field office, under the supervision of the Managing Attorney / Regional Director. OAG employees enjoy excellent benefits (https://ers.texas.gov/Benefits-at-a-Glance) along with tremendous opportunities to do important work at a large, dynamic state agency making a positive difference in the lives of Texans.ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONSPlans, organizes, directs, and monitors office performance and takes corrective actions to achieve assigned goals and objectivesSupervises all office personnel, including hiring, evaluating, counseling, and trainingMonitors the office budgetMonitors and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, policies, procedures, and standards while providing excellent customer serviceResponds to inquiries and resolves issues from agency management, government officials, attorneys, parents, advocacy and community groups and other customersAssesses the validity of complaints against the IV-D program with impartialityPerforms related work as assignedMaintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functionsAttends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work scheduleEnsures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected informationComplies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSPlease consult the State Auditors website and/or with an HR Specialist for required minimum qualifications.Manager II:Education: Graduation from high school or equivalentEducation: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis: full-time Child Support Program, management, supervisory, customer serviceExperience: Seven (7) additional years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: Child Support Program, management, or supervisoryKnowledge of management principles and practicesSkill in using a computer with word processing, spreadsheets, and other softwareSkill in negotiating, interviewing, and mediatingSkill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlinesSkill in effective oral and written communicationSkill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision makingAbility to receive and respond positively to constructive feedbackAbility to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environmentAbility to provide excellent customer serviceAbility to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travelAbility to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSAAbility to lift and relocate 30 lbs.Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5% Manager III:All of the Above qualifications for a Manager II PLUS:Experience: One (1) additional year of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: Child Support Program, management, or supervisoryManager IV:All of the Above qualifications for a Manager III PLUS:Experience: One (1) additional year of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: Child Support Program, management, or supervisory PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience: Texas Child Support Program, managementOther Language: Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak Spanish TO APPLYTo apply for a job with the OAG,electronic appl cations can be submitted through either CAPPS Recruit or Work in Texas.
