Job Description:

We are looking for Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to care for our clients and support them to live full and meaningful lives. As a DSP, you will follow guidelines and specific instructions pertaining to our clients' individual care plans. You will assist with personal care needs and encourage meaningful interactions between clients and the community.

We are looking for individuals that are mindful of our clients' abilities while assisting them where needed in an empathetic manner that encourages their independence. Top candidates are reliable, accountable, compassionate, patient, respectful and can work cooperatively with others toward a common goal.

Qualifications: MUST HAVE VALID DRIVERS LICENSE AND CURRENT VEHICLE INSURANCE *COVID Vaccination or file exemption request with Kokua

*Must be at least 18 years old *High school diploma or equivalent *Pass an FBI background check

*Comfortable working independently and can consistently make good judgements that ensure the health and safety of clients *Flexible with a keen ability to handle stress well *A friendly disposition with a positive 'can-do' attitude *Enjoy working with people who have developmental and intellectual disabilities to improve their quality of life *Can quickly manage stressful situations responsibly and effectively *Strong interpersonal skills *Ability to move and stand for prolonged periods and frequently perform physically demanding tasks (e.g. lifting 35 lbs., twisting and bending, hoyer, wheelchair tie- downs, repositioning and personal care/showering needs)

Direct Support Professional Responsibilities:

• Maintain an environment that ensures client health and safety
• Advance clients' decision-making, productivity and participation in a range of activities that nurtures their needs, self-expression and goals
• Promote independence in daily activities and facilitate clients' inclusion in their community
• Assist with and work to strengthen clients' daily living needs including but not limited to nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication and socialization skills
• Deliver individualized training, encouragement and care in compliance with healthcare professional's instructions

Work cooperatively within your team (e.g. show up to all scheduled shifts on time, be willing to fill-in for others when possible, support the success of team-members through mentoring, be open to feedback about your own performance, resolve issues professionally and refrain from gossip, complete as many tasks
