The Climate Pollution Reduction Program (CPRP) is looking to fill the Natural and Working Lands Greenhouse Gas Data Specialist (Environmental Specialist 4) *position. This position will be located at our Headquarters Building in Lacey, WA{rel="nofollow"}. As the Natural and Working Lands Greenhouse Gas Data Specialist, you will play a large part in framing how we measure and understand natural and working lands (NWL) for Washington State to reduce sources and increase sinks of biogenic carbon. By supporting the creation of Washington's Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP), you will unlock the potential for state, local, and tribal governments to seek resources and implement NWL strategies that provide social and environmental benefits across Washington.   You will be a subject matter expert for NWL greenhouse gasses (GHG) associated with land use and land use change, agriculture, and forests resulting from quantitative, spatial analysis to describe current and forecast future emission balances. In this position, you'll be responsible for modeling NWL GHG balances from biogenic sources and sinks, providing and managing related data for the State GHG Inventory, quantifying NWL GHG reduction measures to achieve reduction targets, and assisting with the development of the CCAP. The principal department strategic priorities and goals that relate to the Climate Pollution Reduction Program (CPRP) include: reduce and prepare for climate impacts; prevent and reduce toxic threats; and deliver efficient and effective services. The CPRP's mission is to implement policies and programs to reduce carbon emissions in the state of Washington so that the state meets its statutory greenhouse gas emission limits. The CPRP focuses long term, requiring creative and strategic decision making for implementation to achieve broad statewide and interstate success reducing carbon emissions in the state of Washington so residents have a healthy environment and climate.
