NPI Team Leader

As an NPI Team Leader within the LPSD 3500 EP & Marine Platform team at Caterpillar, you will have an opportunity to direct and participate in the design and development of new product concepts and complex engineering projects for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. You will provide NTI and NPI program leadership to a large cross-functional organization to deliver OPACC-rich products that meet all customer expectations.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Actively lead and manage NTI & NPI programs within the 3500 EP & Marine Platform by:

  • High level program management of multiple NTI & NPI programs

  • Presentation of regular updates to management on NTI & NPI program progress

  • Lead regular team meetings for executing and governing NTI & NPI projects

  • Ensure program financials, functional requirements and cost targets are met

  • Presentations for Tech Steering, Starts/Stops and all NPI gateway reviews

  • Product price list configuration support

  • Management of development, pilot, field follow and first production product build coordination

  • Ensure APQP project management and Sourcing Council Requirements are met

  • Lead/support New Source Introduction (NSI) programs with the CTL Team

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4-year college or university degree AND 7 years of equivalent experience

  • Understand the fundamentals of the Caterpillar NTI & NPI processes

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, leadership, and communication skills

  • Experience leading large cross-functional teams

  • Strong foundation in critical thinking and a basic understanding of large engines and/or engine systems

Top Candidates will also have:

  • 5 years of Caterpillar experience in Operations, Performance, Supply Chain, Supplier Development or Engineering related to engines or engine systems

  • Strong personal initiative

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Experience leading or supporting NPI or NTI programs

  • Self-starter and have a passion to work in a quality focused and high velocity organization

  • Flexibility and willingness to manage multiple projects concurrently

  • Engine component design experience

  • Demonstrated Business Acumen

  • Engine platform experience

  • EP, Marine or Oil & Gas application experience

  • Caterpillar 6 Sigma Black Belt or experience leading high performance, cross functional teams

  • Ability to quickly assemble cross functional teams to address program opportunities

  • Familiarity with emission and non-emission-based regulations
