Overview

THE ROLE:

This Senior Manager will be responsible for managing the Facility and Production Maintenance team to ensure maximum operating efficiency and effective capital project management. This person needs to be knowledgeable in management theory and its practical applications, engineering principles, maintenance strategies, design theory, maintenance systems, cost control, spare parts control, process methodology, sanitation practices, regulatory standards, lean principles, safety and regulatory requirements and have a solid understanding of financial administration in areas of capital expenditures and budget management

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:

  • Responsible for leading the Facility and Production Maintenance equipment and team to ensure operating efficiency and reliability of all facility and plant equipment.

  • Prepare and lead capital and maintenance projects effectively, ensuring budget alignment, management of external contractors, permits, and compliance with all Safety and Environmental requirements.

  • Collaborate with production management, equipment and automation/controls suppliers to improve plant utilization and production throughput.

  • Provide strong leadership and direction to the Facilities and maintenance team. Ensure team maintains a heighten state of urgency for all opportunities that involve production downtime related to maintenance issues.

  • Lead, motivate and develop team to perform safe and at a high level. This includes technical training and frequent one on one communication with direct reports about performance and expectations. Provide strong leadership and direction to the engineering and maintenance team. Ensure team maintains a heighten state of urgency for all opportunities that involve production downtime related to maintenance issues.

  • Maintain the Computerize Maintenance Management System (CMMS) ensuring proper documentation of all preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration, and spare parts.

  • Develop and publish department KPI’s monthly, Collaborate and share standard processes with other HIM facilities and develop departmental goals and strategies to support company’s long-term growth.

  • Partner with production, QA, sanitation, and warehouse departments to develop a collaboration culture in the daily operation of the plant.

  • Applies continuous improvement, TPM, 5S, and lean manufacturing principles to build department and systems to best of class operation.

  • Support and assist the Director of engineering and operations in other duties as needed

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Facility and Production Maintenance Department reports into this Senior Manager role. Direct reports include department Maintenance Supervisors as well as some staff level Maintenance positions.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

  • Excellent organization and analytical skill

  • Good mentoring and teaching skills

  • Knowledge of a nutraceutical or food processing facility’s operation

  • Knowledge of machinery, preferably in the nutraceutical or food processing industry

Experience:

  • 10+ years as a Maintenance Supervisor / Manager.

  • 6+ years’ experience working in a Nutraceutical, Pharmaceutical or Food Manufacturing Plant cGMP environment or another Regulated Environment

  • 8+ years’ experience in a maintenance technician role

  • Knowledge / Understanding and Application of FDA standards.

  • Experience managing maintenance, and production operations, budget responsibilities, capital projects. CMMS system experience

Education

  • Associate in applied science technical degree from accredited institution or equivalent experience.

  • Additional years of experience in the field or in management will be considered in lieu of associate degree with high school diploma.

  • Military Experience/ Assignments will be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience effectively managing a large facility in a three-shift production environment.

  • Working knowledge of Computer based Maintenance Scheduling and management tools (Oracle Maintenance Module)

  • Formal PLC training

  • B.S. Degree in an Engineering discipline
