We are seeking a strategic and experienced Executive Director of Strategic Communications. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing communication strategies that align with enterprise objectives, promote our culture and engage our employees. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent writing and editing skills, as well as experience partnering with leaders, including the CEO, on often sensitive executive communication. The communications leader will lead a team of two and work closely with HR and Marketing Departments to ensure that all communications have consistent messaging and align to achieve communication objectives and support business strategies. Key responsibilities include executive and board of director communications, planning and executing internal communications, managing enterprise social media accounts, and collaborating with event planner to execute employee and leadership meetings and events. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of current communication trends and technologies, and be able to adapt strategies to meet the evolving needs of our organization. Additionally, the communications leader will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing the effectiveness of communication efforts and making data-driven recommendations for improvement. This role requires a high level of creativity, collaboration, business acumen, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.   • Strategic communication: Develop communications in support of business strategies. Provide support to CEO, Enterprise Leadership Team, and HR on organizational communication by preparing presentations and messaging that promote transparency and sustain the company’s culture, values, mission, strategy, and brand. Counsel top management on effective communication strategies.

  • Enterprise internal communication: Oversee all organizational communications. Lead and mentor a team of two internal communication professionals, providing guidance, feedback, and opportunities for professional development. Foster a positive team culture of support and accountability. Create compelling and informative content for various internal communication channels, including emails, newsletters, intranet, video messages, virtual meetings and events. Lead strategy and execution for high-visibility events including associate and leadership meetings. Work cross-functionally with HR, Marketing, and other departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with company goals.

  • Executive communication: Partner with CEO and Enterprise Leadership Team to craft and deliver strategic messages and presentations that effectively communicate company goals, initiatives, and performance updates to employees, board of directors and rating agencies. Develop high-impact presentations leveraging Power Point and other media.

  • Change management:Change Management Communication: Lead communication efforts during periods of organizational change, including mergers, acquisitions, and process improvements.

  • Associate engagement: Assist Chief Human Resources Officer and HR colleagues with associate communications that inform, inspire, and drive engagement. Support strategies to win external top workplace recognition and leverage the awards to increase associate and candidate engagement.

  • Enterprise public relations and reputation management: Designs and implements communication policies and programs to protect and enhance the reputation of the organization. Responsibilities include both external and internal communications. Directs work done by external public relations firms on behalf of the enterprise.

  • Other duties as needed/assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role within a B2B or corporate environment

  • 2+ years of experience in a lead internal communication role, either for an enterprise or business unit

  • Experience developing and executing enterprise communication strategies

  • Demonstrated success in executive communication, including supporting an enterprise or business unit leader, partnering directly with that leader to inform and support his/her communication objectives

  • Exceptional writing and presentation development skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and channels

  • Strong business acumen demonstrates ability to quickly learn about new industries, business strategies, and functions

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business objectives into effective communication strategies

  • Knowledge of best practices in employee engagement, internal branding and corporate culture enhancement

  • Experience leveraging multimedia communications

  • Strong Power Point design skills

  • Knowledge of and experience optimizing enterprise communication/associate engagement platforms; technical acumen and a passion to applying technology to drive efficiency and effectiveness

  • Strong collaboration skills

  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing a team of communication professionals
