Description:
The purpose of this position is to design, develop, deliver and support complex Industrial Operations Information Technology (IT) solutions and ensure those solutions meet the needs of the business operations and regulatory requirements as well as adhere to Information Systems (I/S) and Industrial Operations IT standards.
Responsibilities include:
Delivering complex IT solutions for Industrial Operations and other departments with systems that interface with Industrial Operations’ systems; this includes
Designing, developing, testing, documenting, optimizing and implementing new solutions, or improving or enhancing existing solutions
Supporting Industrial Operations IT solutions
Defining, developing, maintaining and advising on the effective use of Publix IT architecture to meet the operational needs of the assigned area
Developing IT technical skills of less experienced members of the Industrial Operations IT team and developing training materials for operations associates on operating procedures for new and existing IT systems
Keeping up to date business and technical knowledge for the development of training materials and for training associates on procedures for new and existing IT systems.

Year End Bonus:
As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in an analytical discipline or equivalent experience
Two years of IT support experience
One year of experience developing software on various platforms
Very strong knowledge of the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC), programming concepts and principles as well as Project Management best practices
Very strong knowledge of database design principles, database administration, database connectivity, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services and Open Database Connectivity (ODBC)
Very strong knowledge of relevant industrial technology systems
Strong knowledge of IT technologies and trends
Broad knowledge of the functionality of systems interfacing with the assigned systems
Strong knowledge of mathematics and statistical data analysis
Knowledge of personal computer, printer and network configuration, terminology and architecture

Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of Publix IT support experience
1 year of experience developing software on various platforms including Microsoft Access and Visual Basic for Applications
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, A+, etc.
Very strong knowledge of the Industrial Operations strategy including business objectives and plans
Very strong knowledge of Publix Information Technology policies and processes such as software licensing policies, information protection policy, hardware and software (HW/SW) assessment, access and HW/SW request process
Strong knowledge of Publix Industrial Operations operational processes
Strong knowledge of Publix and Industrial Operations data sources
In-depth knowledge of functionality, configuration and processes for Industrial Operations systems
Excellent knowledge of Industrial Operations safety rules and practices, including applicable plan Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
Working knowledge of business relationships between various departments, department structures and high-level knowledge of Industrial Operations’ impact on Publix Retail and Support departments
Broad knowledge of annual capital budgeting process
Knowledge of the Publix I/S data access request process, Corporate IT justification and approval process and Industrial Operations IT approval processes
