JOB SUMMARY:
The Crew Leader position is responsible for the daily operation of their respective assigned area. This includes training, daily job assignment, quality controls, and housekeeping.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Overall daily supervision of their immediate area.
- Training new temporary workers in specific job tasks.
- Training new workers in other jobs to increase their abilities.
- Document temporary worker start and finish times.
- Pulls individual batch samples during runs and verifies the quality of the sample to the batch sheet.
- Maintains daily logging
Department: Production Location: Various Reports To: Plant Production Supervisor FLSA: Non-Exempt Supervises: Production Worker II's
- Of batch start and stop times and documenting downtime reasons.
- Utilize the established tools, processes, and quality control procedures to obtain defined efficiency and quality requirements.
- Assist the Plant Production Supervisor by maintaining their assigned area to the procedures and protocols defined.
- Provide daily feedback for any operational issues during the shift including safety, maintenance, and quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local ordinances affecting this position.
- Ensure compliance with all Company policies and programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Experienced forklift operation.
EDUCATION:
- Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of three years in a manufacturing environment in a leadership role (having a minimum of three workers under their supervision).
- Preferred experience in the fertilizer industry.
- Minimum three years forklift operation experience. Current license is a plus.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge of all stacking methods, techniques and related equipment.
- Able to read and interpret run list.
- Familiar with stacking patterns of several size bags.
- Self-motivated and can work independently.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Communicating with internal customers - must be able to talk, hear, see, and comprehend.
- Mobility of arms - Must be able to reach, and use arms to manipulate small to large objects.
- Mobility inside the plant, stand for extended periods of time, reach, bend, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds and regularly lift 50 pounds on a daily basis.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Work is routinely performed in a general production environment on a concrete surface, with frequent exposure to both the internal and external environment.
- Frequent exposure to severe weather conditions, both heat and cold.
- Frequent exposure to dust, and noise levels that exceed a normal threshold.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- Must wear steel-toed boots.
- Recommended: Safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, back brace, and safety attire as noted by guides provided in specific areas. These items will be provided by upon request.
- Personal Protective Equipment must be worn in accordance with SDS recommendations.
Driver's License if operating company vehicle/equipment
