CW Metals Baler Machinist in Lakeville, Minnesota
The Baler Machinist is responsible for operating and maintaining baling equipment to process scrap metals in compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. This role ensures the efficient handling, sorting, and baling of metal materials to maximize recycling operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Operate balers and other processing equipment to compress metals into compact bales. Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation. Sort, separate, and prepare various types of scrap metals (e.g., aluminum, steel, copper) for baling. Load and unload materials using forklifts, conveyors, or other material-handling equipment. Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspections of baling machines and related equipment. Identify and address equipment malfunctions or report issues to the supervisor. Adhere to all company safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and ensure operational efficiency. Record production data, such as weights and types of materials processed. Prepare reports on baler operations and maintenance as required. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow. Support other recycling yard activities, including sorting or transporting materials, as needed. Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean working environment. Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
