State of Michigan-DTMB IT Manager (ITM14) Configuration and Customer Support Team supporting Michigan State Police in Lansing, Michigan

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

This position serves as a first line manager of IT resources and activities to ensure that the objectives and goals of the Michigan State Police are accomplished.  Provides supervision and guidance to unit members, Agency Support and Michigan State Police client IT project teams. Prioritizes, coordinates, assigns tasks, and monitors resource allocation for staff and contractors to align with department-wide IT priorities and maintain effectiveness of IT operations. Acts as the first level escalation for IT issues and as backup for the duties of the direct supervisor. The first line manager's primary responsibility is to support and develop the team, responsible for the different environments that support the multiple systems and applications for the Michigan State Police.  The IT Manager also oversees server vulnerability identification and remediations and supports efforts in DevSecOps planning and execution.

 

This position will require the selected candidate to complete and pass a Michigan State Police Fingerprint Background Check prior to beginning employment.

SIGNING BONUS:

 

ITM 14

 This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $3,500. Up to $1,750 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree with not less than 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

 

Experience

Three years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure, Programmer/Analyst or IT Project Coordinator P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure, Programmer
