Rocket Software Senior Financial Analyst in Lansing, Michigan

Job Description Summary:

The Senior Financial Analyst is a highly visible role which will serve as a key member of the Corporate FP&A Team directly supporting the CFO, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and Board of Directors (BOD). This individual will provide financial and analytical support to drive strategic decisions for the company and liaise with the broader finance and business teams.

This individual will be responsible for delivering value-added business analysis and directly support the formal reporting and analytics for the CFO, ELT, and BOD. The role will be responsible for partnering with the extended FP&A team to ensure efficient and automated planning and reporting processes.

This position reports directly to the Sr. FP&A Manager and comes with lots of opportunity for growth and development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in monthly cadence/rhythm of the business – manage timelines and process for key FP&A activities including monthly forecasting, monthly reporting packages, and annual budgeting.

  • Prepare executive presentations, including financial reporting, comprehensive business analyses and recommendations to senior management, the Board of Directors, and investors.

  • Lead beyond budgeting and planning – be a thought partner across departments to drive operational efficiencies while scaling the business.

  • Help drive innovation by actively seeking opportunities to simplify reporting and delivery methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness of finance activities through automation within the confines of available tools.

  • Monitor and analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators highlighting trends and analyzing causes of variances, including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses, capital expenditures, ROI/ROE, as well as OKR’s.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the business’ goals/objectives, to understand the root causes of variances and provide insightful, fact-based data analysis and scenario modeling to tell the story of the business.

  • Ensure adequate internal controls are in place and policies or guidelines are adhered to.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of Finance and/or Accounting experience.

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of Financial Analysis experience.

  • Experience creating presentations for senior leadership and board of directors

  • Expert level of Excel knowledge with the ability to use pivot tables, complex formulas and perform modeling. Experience in Microsoft office suite of products.

  • Experience with ERP and financial planning tools (Planful, Adaptive, Essbase, etc.)

  • Demonstrated ability to manage to tight deadlines and prioritize workloads with a high degree of accuracy and minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both strategically and at a detailed operational level.

  • Ability to quickly grasp new ideas and organize complex information; comfort with ambiguity.

  • Ability to explain concepts and processes to new team members.

  • Experience with moving from data gathering, through focused analysis, to clear, accurate and compelling story telling of key business drivers and business insights.

  • Ability to provide executive-grade accurate financial data/information focused on driving business decisions.

  • Ability to deliver information to senior management with minimal supervision.

  • Curious, self-starter who consistently takes the initiative to address questions and build new processes/structures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or MBA.

  • Experience working in the high-tech industry or for software companies.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.

Minimal, <5%

The base salary range for this role is $93,276.00 - $116,595.50 /year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
