Lansing Board of Water & Light Water Operations Data Analyst in Lansing, Michigan

The Lansing Board of Water & Light has an opening for a Water Operations Data Analyst in our Water Operations department, located in Lansing, MI.

Job Type: Full-Time Starting Salary Range: $65,300-$77,700

Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Water Operations Director, assists with the development and improvement of tools and knowledge to analyze and interpret data to drive short and long-term strategic planning for water supply, water conditioning, and water distribution.

Essential Functions:

 Data Analytics Development and Improvements for Water Operations Data 

  • Development or improvement of existing dashboards to analyze water operations data. Examples of data to analyze include, but are not limited to, pumpage and pressure data at plants and in distribution system, chemical dosages, equipment run hours, water quality data of wells and raw water, plant data, and distribution system data, energy usage, critical parts list, equipment outages, expense tracking, cost of production, service interruptions, maintenance history data, among others. Data may be housed in various formats and software platforms and should be pulled into one system for analysis purposes. 

Document Control 

  • Maintain folder structure for Water Operations data to ensure standardized formatting. 
  • Assist with development of Standardized Operating Procedures (SOPs). 
  • Monitor manufacturer's updates and update hardcopy manuals as needed. 
  • Maintain Water Operations Master Document Matrix File and data locations and update as necessary. 
  • Assist with updating and maintaining Water Operations Inventory Master Matrix and Critical Spares on hand by working with Warehouse. 
  • Manage Records Retention Schedule requirements for plant documents. 

Data Maintenance Various Processes Including 

  • Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA). 
  • Management of Change (MOC). 
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA). 
  • Corrective Actions / Preventative Actions. 
  • Assists with building appropriate data and management review quarterly meeting.

Inventory / Order Supplies 

  • Critical water production process chemicals.
  • Place reservations in SAP for consumables. 
  • Create and process Purchase Requisitions and pay invoices in SAP as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
