McLaren Health Care Director Patient Care Services - Surgical Services - McLaren Careers in Lapeer, Michigan
Position Summary:
Responsible for the department’s quality improvement program and participates in performance improvement activities, evaluation and planning of departmental/unit activities, orientation program in respective units, and all patient related clinical activities in area of jurisdiction at all times. Assures compliance with all regulatory and other agency requirements, laws and statutes pertaining to the operation of the department.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Uses independent judgment to exercise authority on behalf of theMedicalCenter, or effectively recommend such action in the following areas:
May request, interview, and make hiring decisions in regard to personnel for this area
May discipline subordinates according toMedicalCenterprocedure
Responsible for assigning work to employees and directing the workflow in area of jurisdiction
Attempts to resolve customer complaints/concerns (internal & external)
Conducts annual performance appraisal interviews with subordinates;
May, with Administrative approval, recommend and grant employee advancements/wage increases
Responsible for the department’s quality improvement program and participates in performance improvement activities

Responsible for all patient related clinical activities in area of jurisdiction at all times
Oversees the achievement of the standards of Nursing practice commensurate with the Nursing Code of Ethics and Michigan Public Health Code
Responsible for the orientation program in respective units.
Assists with continuing education of employees in area, while maintaining own professional competence
Assures there are on-going continuing education programs in place to maintain staff competency
Assures compliance with all regulatory and other agency requirements, laws and statutes pertaining to the operation of the department.
Evaluates and purchases departmental equipment and supplies
Qualifications:
Required:
Must possess current Michigan RN license
Minimum 2 years clinical experience in an acute care hospital
Minimum 2 years management experience
Master’s Degree in Nursing or health related field required, or to be completed within 2 years of hire/transfer
