UnitedHealth Group Oncology Pharmacy Manager of Clinical Patient Care in Las Vegas, Nevada

The Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Manager is uniquely trained in medication therapy management and functions as an integral member of the oncology multidisciplinary team. The Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Manager improves the well-being of patients with cancer by providing therapeutic care, they will, both directly and indirectly by way of the pharmacy team, be responsible for reviewing and approving medication orders, monitoring drug therapies, and providing drug information to patients and team members. They will provide leadership and direction by developing, implementing, and maintaining hospital and departmental performance improvement initiatives that promote positive clinical outcomes. They will serve as an educator in the instruction of students, interns, residents, nurses, and patients and will be a resource to physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team. In addition, the Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Manager participates in drug therapy research trials. The Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Manager supervises and directs support personnel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversees clinical pharmacy team, and coordinates training and ongoing education, as needed

  • Leads internal Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee

  • Implements formulary decisions provided by the OptumCare Enterprise National Value & Therapeutics committee, in addition to supplemental literature evaluation for formulary decisions as needed

  • Implements, and from time-to-time creates policies for safe medication administration and best/evidence-based practices

  • Understands, and is able to consider quarterly finance reviews in overall decision making

  • Utilizes data to determine formulary decisions

  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws

  • Educates nursing and medical staff on relevant changes

  • Serves as a consultant to other departments

  • Able to consistently and appropriately document within the medical record patient evaluations and care planning, including supportive care during treatment

  • Assesses patient information for duplicate therapy, drug-drug interactions, risk of polypharmacy, lack of drug efficacy, and untreated conditions.

  • Serve as an affordability champion to drive high-quality value-based care, specifically managing medical oncology drug spend

  • Ensure success of research programs

Required Qualifications:

  • Nevada PharmD license in good standing without restrictions

  • 3+ years of clinical pharmacy experience

  • Access to reliable transportation that will enable you to travel to client/patient sites within a designated area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board certified oncology pharmacist (BCOP) certification or BCPS

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience and oncology outpatient experience

Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $104,700 to $190,400 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
