Clinical Workflow Analyst

Position summary Utilizes practices, policy & procedures, and tools for analysis of manual and automated workflows. Develops guidelines, documentation, and methodologies to create the framework to move clinical processes into the implementation phase. Uses knowledge of clinical activities, tasks and practice, deliverables and techniques for implementing new or enhanced processes using information technology.

Technical competencies

WORKFLOW ANALYSIS • Tracking current workflows for acute and ambulatory services • Documenting processes for acute/ambulatory services using available workflow tools • Cross analyze multiple workflows to determine best practice

CLINICAL PROCESS DELIVERY • Assist with the development of preventative and clinical guidelines • Assist with identifying best practices for documentation for all activities and tasks. • Identify necessary reporting needs from benchmarking

IMPLEMENTATION • Identify activities associated with implementation of new processes using information technology • Develop specific measurements and impacts of interventions for providers and other clinical members • Instruct and guide staff and providers on approved standard work and processes for workflow improvement.

ASSUMES RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROFESSIONAL SELF-DEVELOPMENT • Annual mandatory education to maintain clinical skills within Scotland Physicians Network • Participate in mandatory training programs to keep abreast of workflow improvements, changes, requirements. • Participate in staff meetings when necessary • Participate in performance improvement activities related to job or facility • Seeks new methods and principles • Significant interaction with work teams responsible for continuous improvement in the quality of care in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Primary responsibility will be assisting these teams.

Minimum qualifications: Education CMA or LPN degree required. Other Three to Five years of clinical experience required. Preferred: 4-5 years’ experience in a clinical/healthcare technical IT setting using an electronic medical ecord; 4 or more years' experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database and internet applications. Excellent communication skills.
