MIRROR Work for Success Case Manager - Family-Centered Coaches in Lawrence, Kansas

Under the supervision of the Work for Success Program Director, the Work for Success Case Manager/Family Centered Coach shall be responsible for case management services provided to the clients served in the Mirror Work for Success Program. The Case Manager shall operate in an ethical, professional manner, and interact with others in such a fashion as to create and maintain respect for the agency and the State of Kansas, Department for Children and Families. They shall be intimately familiar with the statement of work and the contractual provisions set forth in the agreements with DCF. They shall act in accordance with the policies determined by the Board of Directors and shall abide by all applicable federal, state and local regulations. The duties of this position include providing case management and referral services to participants of the program to eliminate barriers to employment and ensure their continuing success. The case manager will provide family enrichment services to participants. The case manager facilitates educational presentations on the following as needed: Personal and Professional Development, Healthy Relationships, Parenting and Family Enrichment, family violence prevention training, portfolio development & resume writing, interview techniques training, completing employment applications, job fairs, and other placement resources.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. The case manager/family-centered coach facilitates educational presentations on the following as needed: Personal and Professional Development, Healthy Relationships, Parenting and Family Enrichment, family violence prevention training, portfolio development & resume writing, interview techniques training, completing employment applications, job fairs, and other placement resources.

  2. Provides case management and referral services for program participants in the following basis areas of human need as required: employment, vocational training, continued education or GED testing, community resources, legal assistance, housing, family enrichment, family violence, and other client needs.

  3. Meets with clients at least once a week to follow up with life plans and goals.

  4. Tracks and collects pertinent data for grants; and, reports and completes all required reports and summaries in a timely manner for the Program Director.

  5. Works within the program team to deliver programs which align with outcome objectives designed to foster employment, ensures retention, and enhances the family.

  6. Works collaboratively within the team to plan and lead effective, dynamic training.

  7. Participates in recruitment, orientation, training, and smooth transition into coaching for all participants.

  8. Attends all trainings required by Mirror and the granter including webinars and quarterly meetings.

  9. Provides individual sessions with program participants and assist them in the identification and resolution of problems, behaviors or cognition, which prevents them from completing the training, and finding and retaining employment or fostering family effectiveness.

  10. Make employer contacts, promote the program and participants by attending job fairs, and calling employers who are hiring.

  11. Maintain grant related paperwork, and reporting outcomes

  12. Facilitate and make appropriate program participant referrals to community-based services related to their personal needs consistent with Mirror policy and guidance from the grantor.

  13. Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by the Mirror Work for Success Program Director or members of the Mirror Management Team.

Qualifications

  1. Graduate of a four year accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a social or behavioral science area of study which might include but not be limited to the following degrees: criminal justice, counseling, social work, sociology, psychology, substance abuse counseling or another closely related field of study. Persons without a degree who have multiple years of experience with community collaboration and mobilization, workforce development, presentation skills and/or an ability to serve diverse populations will also be considered.

  2. Minimum of one-year paid experience providing case management or workforce development services.

  3. Although not mandatory applicants who are bilingual (English & Spanish) will be given strong consideration.

  4. Excellent interpersonal skills are required, as well as, the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  5. Capable of maintaining a team spirit and the ability to work cooperatively with others.

  6. Must be adaptable to change and have effective organizational skills.

  7. Must be able to organize and follow through on multiple tasks.

  8. Display consistent, good judgment and decision-making skills.

  9. Ability to establish and maintain rapport with target population.

  10. Must be able to pass a background and child abuse check.

  11. Must be free of chemical dependency for at least 2 years prior to employment.

  12. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, and with a basic understanding of Excel preferred.

  13. Must have a valid driver's license,

  14. Position may also involve bending, walking stairs and lifting up to 40 pounds on occasion.
