Purpose of Role
The purpose of the Product Test Engineer role at the Design Innovation and Testing Center (DI&TC) within the manufacturing palnt is to ensure the highest standards of strength and durability in rigid plastic products through performance testing. The role involves designing and maintaining efficient workflows to streamline testing processes and establishing an organizational structure that fosters productivity and collaboration within the DI&TC. The Product Test Engineer will manage and execute the testing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and will advocate for the center-s capabilities both within RPC and its customers. Through these efforts, the Product Test Engineer will support the advancement of RPC-s product quality and innovation goals.
Area of Accountability
Design Innovation and Testing Center Management
Ensure testing procedures are documented, standardized, and followed rigorously.
Maintain, calibrate, and upgrade equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Produce detailed and clear reports on testing outcomes, providing actionable insights.
Product Validation Development and Testing
Execute Sustaining Testing consisting of existing product durability, strength, and life cycle testing
Execute R&D Testing consisting of competitor benchmark testing, New Product Development (NPD) prototype and T1 product testing, unconventional material evaluation.
Refine and Develop Core Product Validation Protocols with the guidance of Design team members.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Design and Engineering to develop product simulation tests that accurately represent customer handling and usage scenarios.
Assist Materials and Sustainability team members in the development of alternative material blends that meet internal and/or external goals.
Partner with Product Integrity to ensure quality performance testing at plant level remains consistent with national standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
BS in Mechanical Engineer/Packaging Engineer and/or proven experience in a testing or quality assurance role, preferably within the plastics industry.
Candidate must possess the ability to juggle many projects/tasks simultaneously, while meeting precise deadlines.
Candidate must be results oriented with the ability to excel in a self-initiated environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
Minimal travel is required
