What s a typical day as a Wastewater Treatment Operator? You ll be: Operate the wastewater treatment system in compliance with organization discharge limits. Operating wastewater treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in the wastewater treatment plant Monitoring control panels and adjusting valves to regulate flow of influent and chemicals Observing variations in operating conditions and interpreting metered, gauged readings, and test results Start and stop pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of wastewater through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes. Performing routine inspections of tanks and other associated equipment Performing preventative maintenance of wastewater plant equipment and basic troubleshooting Performing wastewater plant sampling and analysis of samples Monitoring wastewater plant processes and making adjustments as needed Operating and maintaining power generating equipment to provide air and electricity for the plant Understanding and complying with all Quality Assurance policies
